Updated (2013) PCM NAV disc now available!
When I press MAIN and TRIP, It shows I have PCM level B, but next to NAVIGATION there is a triangle with an exclamation point inside, and doesn't have any info on the software version. Is that normal??
WAZE is free and better than anything.
I'd say I almost always use my iPhone5 with either WAZE or Navigon.
I'd rather spend the money on a sat radio conversion, as my handheld Samsung S4 has a better maps system than Porsche will ever install and it's easier to use on the fly. That's good info though about the voice directions from Google Maps coming in over the speakers on Bluetooth as I hadn't heard that one before.

Back to the topic...
But the point is, yes - alternatives to the PCM nav exist. We all know what they are, and some of us (misguided though we may be) still want to make the $3000 system built into the car operate the best it can.
Anyway, sorry for the snark!
Given I have no idea what new roads its added (don't care much about the ATMs and points of interest, they are always in flux), I'm not sure if any real value is added. Id like to know what roads were added in my area since the 2009 factory data set when the car was built.
Disagree. Waze is usefull in a limited way (on commutes in areas where there are a lot of waze customers, and you have a passenger operating the waze software).
For a safe driver its way too dangerous to futz with. It takes my eyes too far off the road, compared the instrument cluster integrated indications of the Porsche Nav solution. And the Porsche solution works anywhere I have a view of the sky, regardless of cell service availability.

Map data in the latest update.
Can you pull up the map and enter this address and post what the map looks like?
7760 185th Ave NE Redmond, WA 98052
I'd like to see what 185th Ave NE connects to in the new data set.

I just use the waze application on my iphone even though I have the GPS in my 2009 C4S. Waze tells you where the cops are, any road issues and can hook into your car via Bluetooth. Save your money.

Waze is not a substitute for a GPS or a Radar Detector, will never be. However it compliments it well adding to your situational awareness.
Hello guys,
I have just updated my PCM 2.1 to 05-2013 (latest software) as described on the thread.
Here what happened...
I spoken to Sun Coast (nice people), they gave me a lot of insight and information;
I was not able to assure that I had the required version of the PCM;
They suggested me to take the car to the dealer;
In the Dealer:
I called them before hand and explained what I needed;
They checked with PARTS and advised that I need to order the 05-2013 from Porsche for 285.00 Dollars;
When part arrived, I went to the dealer and they confirmed that my 2006 Carrera C2S Cabrio had the required software;
They connected a computer in the interior of the car;
They connected another computer in the PCM;
They loaded a PCM update disc into the DVD and uploaded info;
They loaded the 05-2013 CD into the DVD and loaded the 2013 maps;
The car was ready in about 55 minutes;
All working beautifully fine;
They charged me the $285.00 for the SET OF 8 OEM Porsche discs on a Porsche leather case inside a Porsche Box;
The set of 8 CDs were: the entire 2008 PCM update and MAP update, plus all the 2013 set of discs.
Great outcome...I am happy I bought it from them and had them do it for one hour labor + tax + the CD set with case for a total of 453.00 Dollars.
YES expensive, but it was actually worth it and guaranteed.
Best
