Towing help

Hello all!

I am getting married and driving my 997 from PA to MN. After our honeymoon, I'll have to pack my wife's things with my car and drive back to PA. I am renting a car hauler with a moving truck. I am going to assume that the car might have a low clearance for the ramp and will probably get some 2x4 to get the car on. Any other tips?

I rented a car trailer from uHaul for $49.00
You have to back the car on as the front wont clear.
Hand brake on, tranny in gear.
Only had tire straps on the rears.
Worked out great.

Ok, I got the truck and the hauler (bed) from UHaul since we have we'll have wedding gifts, and all of her stuff from her room.

However, wouldn't I need to put it on the bed since it's AWD?

i'm not sure i understand your question. "put it on the bed..." as opposed to...what, dragging/towing it behind you like the big bus RV's do with their cars? please dont. AWD or not, please dont drag the porsche! yes, put it on a car hauler/trailer.

From the owner's manual -

Vehicle towing
Flat bed towing is the preferred type of towing to be used on Porsche vehicles.
Under certain circumstances, wheel lifts may be used when the vehicle will not roll.
The vehicle must be towed with all four wheels off the ground, otherwise damage to the vehicle may result.

I'm assuming your 997 is a C4 ???
Still doesn't matter. As others have said, all 4 wheel off the ground. Not even a 2 wheel dolly!
It's not like a 4WD truck with a disconnect for "free wheeling" so dragging it is not an option.
Besides, the SUV's with the disconnect or cars for that matter that are dragged behind an RV, still rack up miles on the odometer.
