Rottec / Spyder LED tails 997.1

Can anyone confirm with certainty that the Rottec 997.1 LED tails and the Spyder 997.1 LED Tails are in fact exactly the same?

Thanks!

If they use the OEM wiring harness, most likely Rottec "type". The Depo/Dectane "type" has its own wiring harness also DEPO is stamped on the plastic like this:

I hesitated answering that way since who knows if they are "exactly" the same but the video does show use of the existing OEM wiring harness so I have go agree - they are the same.

i know the cliche "you get what you pay for" most likely applies in this situation, but are the dectane lights better/less likely to have LED's to go out vs. the spyder/rottecs?

To early to tell but from what we have seen on Porsche forums, the dectance/depos are lasting longer. I didn't like the aftermarket look of the Rotec and early problems with them pretty much ruled them out for me.

I can tell you that I don't think it's true in this case. The Rottecs are more expensive ($850 + Shipping) than the Dectanes ($695 + Shipping through FVD).

If the Rottecs and the Spyders are in fact the same, then we've all be getting ripped off by Rottec because the Spyders can be had for under $500 a set. If the customer service was better I could see this being beneficial, but RotTec's customer service and support of their products clearly sucks a$$!~

maxspeed doesn't sell german dectanes. in the description on their website they tell you the lights are from taiwan. i went with the smoke/red dectanes from their ebay store "dectane-outlet". with the current conversion rate, they were 385 GBP + 71 GBP shipping for a grand total of $721 with the current exchange rate. that's still cheaper than the $995 for dectanes sold from US distributors.

Dectane is a distributor just like Maxspeed. There are no "german made" aftermarket LED tail lights - they all come from China.

i should actually clarify as well. maxspeed isnt selling dectanes, they're actually the rottec type. Either way, it looks nice but i'd prefer dectane.
