Water Pump Longetivity

Mine also failed at 30K. I was at the local auto parts store buying an air intake sensor to cure the intermittent start problem on my DD. Don't you love it when all your cars are broken at the same time? Anyway, called Porsche, they came and picked up the car, transported it to the dealer and CPO picked up the tab.

Same here on the 07s at about 25k miles.

For reference to others, here is a link to "hear" a failing WP. It may not make 100% sense now, but FYI.

Water pump & thermostat replacement is not difficult to do and can be completed well within 2 hours. You can even take the opportunity to install a low-temp thermostat

Thanks. I ordered both low-temp themo and pump last nite. Do you think my order will be shipped today and I could get them by tomorrow?

Based on my experience, I would suggest clearing the schedule for the entire weekend to get it done. It shouldn't take that long, but gives some slop time when things go wrong (and for me, something always goes wrong).

My lowtemp thermo, gasket and WP is about $334.00. I may just buy Dexcool at Pepboys for the coolant.
Anyone using non-Porsche coolant lately????
Pelicanparts.com offers free shipping. I wish for affiliation but I am not!

For those of you doing this as a DYI, be aware that you may need to remove your mufflers and cats. On my c4s, I had to.
Tip: always use anti-seize compound on exhaust nuts and bolts. You'll thank yourself next time you'll need to disassemble your exhaust.
