Center console for 997 cabriolet

Hi - I bought a used carbon fiber center console for my cab but it doesn't have the space for the rooftop switch next to the hand break so it's not a direct fit. Is that a separate part for the cab? Has anyone cut carbon fiber pieces before? I may just go ahead and cut out the hole myself but I'm worried to crack the carbon fiber and destroy the whole console.

Appreciate any help. Thanks!

Yeah, it's a different center console for the cabriolet. I think the back is different too. The coupes console has a change holder at the back.

...the back is actually a separate piece, in other words the center console comes in two pieces. The cab only uses the center console, the coupe has an extension with the change holder.

Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that if you buy the 3K carbon fiber center console it does not come with the back piece for the coupe. You can shell out an extra 700 bucks for that. But those MSRPs are off the charts anyway.

I actually found online a carbon fiber center console for a cab for same price so I bought it a few min ago and will return the other one. The base article number is the same but there are different article number extensions for coupe, cabrio and targa.

This may not be the case here, but anyone purchasing "carbon fiber" parts and pieces on the cheap (especially over the internet) may actually be buying "carbon fiber look" fiberglass or water transfer parts. Proper carbon fiber fabrication requires a more complex (and much more expensive) layup process involving vacuum bagging and autoclave curing than fiberglass does, and carbon fiber fabric raw material (cloth and resins) is not cheap, so if it's being sold inexpensively, it may not be the genuine article. Be certain to ask for verification that whatever part you are purchasing is the genuine article. Unless weight and/or structural strength is critical, "carbon fiber look" fiberglass works just fine for most practical or cosmetic applications, though.

Might just be easier to sell it and buy the other one. Let me know if you do, as I may be interested.

i would recommend cutting a smaller hole and using a set of files to get your final hole

High speed dremel cutting wheel should work with no issues. Tape area around to protect.
