So I am pretty sure my car does not have an aftermarket alarm system, I don't see anything aftermarket anywhere. I have only had the car a few months (bought it pre-owned) but when I first got it, it would chirp when I use the key and lock it. Now all of a sudden it doesn't chirp ever, is there a setting somewhere?

Nevermind. Just tried popping the front lid open then locked it and it did chirp so I guess it was just telling me a door is still open.

If by chirp you mean the horn sounding, you MAY have Smart Top installed on your key FOB. I have it and it does a few other things as well. PM me if you need details

Thats correct, it will chirp if the lid is popped, not sure but I imagine it will do the same if a door is not secure.

Absolutely -

Smart Top is a way to program your key FOB's so that they change the way certain things work. I am not sure what their capabilities are limited to, but I believe I use mine to the full potential with the following:

-car horn sounds once when unlocking (as well as flashing lights of course)
-car horn sounds twice when locking (lights as well)
-trunk (bonnet/hood) button is delayed so that you have to hold it for 3-4 seconds before unlocking (helps to prevent accidentally opening from pocket, etc.)
-windows go down if you hold the unlock button
-windows go up by holding the lock button

I have found Smart Top to be an excellent thing to have, especially since 997's from the factory do NOT make a noise when locking and unlocking which is a pain since you always have to check for the flashing lights.

Other than that, the rest of the stuff is an added bonus for me, and yes it comes in handy!! I also highly recommend their customer service

Hope this helps -
John

It's not supposed to unless there's a fault. See your manual.

I just figured this out a few days ago on mine, it honks if the lid is open or if a door is not closed all the way.

Front parking and tail lights flash twice when locked, once when unlocked. No chirps.
