2007 C4S CAB Window ISSUE

I have a 2007 C4S Cab.

Occasionally when i finish closing the top, the windows once reaching 50% closure, stop coming up and will go back down on their own.

The problem has been around for a while, and the car has a CPO.

The first time i took it in they stated it was a sensor.
The problem persisted and they greased the rubber moldings (stating it was due to friction) so that when the window got to a point it would feel resistance it would stop and then roll down on its own .

Clearly not a solution.

After a 3rd visit for this, they now stated they have to change to thinner windows.

Am i on MARS?

Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

I thought i was mistaken, but they wrote this to me in a service update.

Does anyone have any explanation?

Why would you change windows on a NON-MODIFIED car to improve window closing?

I remain perplexed.

I have seen this once or twice on my 07 c2s Cab. I just use the controls to put them afterwards. It happens fairly infrequently so I just don't let it bother me.

I've had this problem on both my previous 09s and 11' GTS they replaced the window regulator/ electrical motor and the problem went away.

So they actually replaced BOTH windows.

so far so good.

The service manager stated that this was a known issue and there were some cars which had a recall a few years back.

I've test drive cars that have been sitting for a while with low batteries and that happens. Curious what the outcome was?

then i was told that the:

Engine power cable was sending to much voltage to alternator for window issue , had to replaced rear engine power cable connected to alternator .

So what happens after this?

it recurrs.

So new windows, new cables, new this and that.

Yesterday they ordered a new window motor.

Have you tried reseting the windows? Ie Roll them all the way down, continue to depressed the button for 30 secs or so after they are all the way down. Roll them up and continue to hold the button after they are closed. My C2S cab would occasionally roll one of the smaller windows halfway down when closing the top. This procedure has fixed it.

I have a 2006 911 Cab, and dealing with the same issue. I installed the SmartTop (highly recommend) and this problem makes it even more obnoxious. The problem occurred before the SmartTop, so it is not related to the aftermarket part.

As a result when I'm putting up the windows from my remote, it won't roll up the passenger, so I now have to put up the windows/top while the car is on, which defeats one of the main functions of SmartTop.

Mine started originally started going up half way, but now it doesn't go up at all. Also when I open the passenger door and close it, the window does not move thus leaving a half inch gap.

I have an extended warranty and hoping it covers it. I'll keep you posted on the fix.

i had the same problem previously with the rear windows.

i have SmarTop cab.. and when i close the the top / windows with the remote, i would notice the rear windows stop half way sometimes.

upon close inspection, the window seem to hit the gap where the two molding meet inside the car (see pic - but remember its visible from inside the cabin. i just dont have a pic of it from inside.. lol) and the sensor will stop the window from closing all the way.

I carefully trimmed (with a nail clipper) the gap area between the molding so the window does not hit anything on its way up. The sensors are very sensitive and any resistance will trigger it.

now it works fine. hope it works for u

if u need an actual photo of the exact area in question, let me know. I can prob take a pic this wknd.

if there is a different dealer, i would try going to another one

make sure your engine is on and you are on flat ground when operating the top

also, check the top fluid level. it's under the top so you can't do this yourself without putting the top in service position.

I have fixed this issue by resetting the window memory. The switch has two positions when pushed hard it will seat the window to end or current memory. If you send window all the way down then push switch to first detent but not fully in gaged. Hold untl window hit top limit hold for a few seconds. Window memory now reset and window will now work properly with top up mode.

Top is operated with a combination of electric and hydraulic motors. Main motor is hydraulic.
