Extended Warranty
Extended Warranty
I may buy a 2009 C4S from a private owner. The original CPO expires early 2014. It is my understanding that I have no other option, but to seek an extended warranty, and I can not get it from Porsche.
Assuming I can not bring car to Porsche to extend the CPO, can someone advise me on where I can obtain an extended warranty? Will it be as good or almost as good as the Porsche CPO?
Thanks,
Jeff

Just did this for myself. Two types of warranties: (1) exclusionary policy and (2) listed or named policies.
Exclusionary policies cover everything except what is specifically excluded. Listed or named policies cover only what is listed or named. The latter is usually cheaper.
Easycare is one of the best but very expensive. I went with Costco warranty which is an exclusionary policy, which provided the best coverage for the money,
Read the fine print and make sure that your policy covers the standard hour repair rate and doesn't limit or cap pay rates. All tracking a car or any mods may cancel the policy.

If you have a willing dealer in the area you might be able to pass the sale of the car through the dealership and get a new CPO which in your case might be for 2 yrs./100,000 mi. You'd have to pay for the CPO inspection and obviously the warranty cost. Also anything they find that needs to be brought up to spec. Things like tires, brakes and service which would all be done at dealer pricing. Of course the two big items, tires and brakes if needed, could be done prior to inspection at a much lower price point.
Yeah, doesn't make sense, CPO should be 2 more years and 100,000 which ever comes first. You have an 09', there is no IMS to worry about. I would just skip extended warranty all together.
Maybe is an early 2009 that was purchased in late 2008.

Sounds more like on 09 build sold in 10 with warranty expiring early 14
Exactly!
And I bought it private so no CPO option.
I want to get it warrantied before it expires so there is no lapse in coverage. The one extended warranty place (Endurance) I spoke to, said there is a one month wait until the vehicle is covered, but since I am currently under manufacturer warranty, there will be no lapse..
