so I don't have clinical or definitive proof, but i'm pretty sure my problem was not that at all but a slight (?) overfill last time I changed the oil...when I filled'er up I put in just 8 liters and had all bars full, but didn't remove any cause, well just cuz...it couldn't have been very much too much, and not driving very much in winter I just forgot about it...then spring came and I noticed the blowby after awhile and didn't put 2n2 together till I changed the oil again...at which time I cleaned the bay/intakes and all and have been watching, some good drives to the ring and back and maybe 600 km's later everything is white glove ok in there...so, i'm going with that overfill situation...does that make sense?
and a picture of my repainted instrument and surround done in black, plus the steering wheel shaft surround in leather, kinda hard to see... but cool

Well, 8 liters is about 8.5 quarts which is what I get in mine during an oil change. I'd say that was just about right so not sure it would create the blowby. I would drive is bit more and see if the tell tale greasy mist on the intake comes back. If not you must be right about the overfill.

elliot_holder is infamous around these parts
Spray instrument surround

Car looks great.

I've got almost the identical interior in sand beige, even gave a matching black steering wheel (although not yet fitted)

What did you spray the instrument surround with? I've been looking to do the same as it nicely breaks up the sea of beige.

I just removed the instrument cluster and then the surround, taped off what I needed to and sprayed with a satin black rattle can, came out great, however... the rubber or soft paint or whatever it is wouldn't take the paint,so I then primered it but it wouldn't take that either so I had to remove all the old whatever it is paint before I could get the correct finish, but once it was properly prepped all went well... I think it looks pretty good, my interior is the natural brown, and thanks for the compliment, I like it as well...
