I was going to ask same water pump question ....don't know if mine was ever changed and today had a small amount of smoke from my center radiator and hint of antifreeze smell. This was after a wash and temp is in 20 s on east coast. When I got checked level and its full ? What's next?

85000 miles my water pump went. I stopped at a light and saw steam coming from the back of the car. Lucky I was close to home so I kept driving. I changed it myself but it wasn't an easy job.

is the recommended water pump replacement interval for 997 60k miles/100k km ?? judging from what i read that would seem to make sense.

My '05 C2S has 96k miles & has been great for the past year I have owned it.

Water pump, coil packs, plugs, brakes, etc done by the PO.

All I have done is driven it & changed the oil.

At 75K miles that or about my front left radiator started to leak, or I replaced it and the water pump simultaneously. Still on my original clutch at 80K.

So is the water pump failures/replacements more a function of mileage or time? Coming from many Audi's I always changed them along with the timing belts at 100k miles. This 50-60k seems quite often but I am wondering maybe its because in general these cares are not driven as much?
