How many miles are too many?

Hello just looking for some advice. I recently sold my 2006 S coupe for a 2010 Mercedes E550 coupe. I like the Benz but I need my Porsche . So I've been looking for a few weeks and found exactly what I wanted . I always wanted a white Porsche ( never seemed to find one I liked in past searches ), but I found a 2006 white c4s cab with blue top in tiptronic and all the options I want. The car is in great shape with all services up to date and an inspection shows all I need would be is front tires. The only thing I'm a little nervous about is that the car has 69500 miles. I've had about six different Porsche cars and always low miles . Should I let miles scare me away? Price is low $40 s....your advice would be great

my father Buick had 279K miles, the AC was ice cold at time it got sold. It is all how it being taken care for.

Of course if the Buick engine blow, it goes straight to the "Can Academy".

Not a Porsche.

One important lesson i have learned...you always gets what you paid for.

My 2 cents.

maintenance records are huge. get a DME to see how it was driven. price seems a bit high but that could be because of the options. i think porsches are built to last.

Yeah, check service slips for whats been done. By that mileage you should have a new water pump, the pads should be new, possibly the rotors as well, CV boots too. I would also inspect the rear main seal and the underside carefully for any leaks. Ive got almost 65k on my daily driver, which is an 06 C4 and aside from those items my secondary vacuum pump failed, but that was an uncommon item.

Too many miles (IMO)

Once a car (especially a Porsche) crosses that 50 K mile marker it takes a huge depreciation . Some who have high mileage cars will express that its purely psychological but the bottom line is that many shoppers who look at high mile cars are doing so to save money . If they are financing the car the lenders will take into consideration whether a car payment plus a potential out of warranty repair is possible and in many cases it isn't .. so the buyer is often denied . It is thus harder to sell a high mile car . The owner who has one with a major repair plus a car payment has basically stepped in a money pit machine . A fun car is no fun if it becomes a giant paperweight consuming ones finances .

In my opinion ... pass on the used high mile car

Even when I'm in Manual in the PDK, the computer will Override me an not let me go into the Red, if I don't shift gears myself.

I'd look over all the previous maintenance and service records, have a mech interpret the DME if you're not familiar with it....someone DROVE it....and apparently took care of it well enough to last to 69k...mine is approaching 65k and I'm loving it more now than when I took possession at 40k...drive it hard, service it regularly, enjoy what Dr Porsche designed and don't worry about miles....wear the miles proudly!

You find a white unicorn with all the options you want, and at a reasonable price? And the odometer has a 69 on it? How many more signs from GOD do you need?

Buy it and do your best to put a 1 in front of that 69.

If it really is the one you want, and the PPI comes back with "needs front tires" I wouldn't let it get away.

CM 699 you hit it on the head. I pulled trigger ...I've been without my last 997 for a few months and I miss it . I'll be picking it up this week and just ordered the avant garde 510 wheels and had them painted to match car. I'll post some pics when I get them on. I hope I get a few nice days to put top down.....

MJ- that's great news! Congrats on the niner! White C4S Cabs look amazing, I'm sure it's a move you won't regret. I just got back from the beach with my C2S on a great drive this morning - I'm sure you'll get a few top down days before Christmas lights go up.

57,94x miles this morning. I plan to catch up to you pretty quick. Congrats again, looking forward to seeing the pix.
