Arrow How many miles to expect out of tires?

Hey guys,

I am currently loving my Michelin SS and will be in need of another set soon. I am thinking of buying more Super Sports because I love how quiet they are. The only thing is, I can imagine that they're quiet because they're a bit softer than other tires.

How many miles are you getting out of your tires? Any brand?

John

The tech at Discount Tire said not to expect much more than about 15K out of Michelin SS tires. They are rated at 30K but since you can't rotate them, it cuts the treat life in half.

mine have about 15k and seem to have lots of life left! Esp in the front, that's why I'm wondering if this seems normal!

Tire life will depend on your driving style and habits. I have Michelins and they last over 15K.

I get 10k on the rears 18k on the fronts. I bought this car to drive and that's what I do.
Been driving like this since 1963 when i bought my first Vette. If you do better than this on your. Tires you need to ask yourself why you don't just get a Mercedes? I have a new E350 Cab too for when the Wife want to come along. She drives it the rest of the time.

Expect the fronts to be twice the life of the rears.

I need to double check, but I think the Michelins can be rotated.

Like others have said, the rear tires typically wear twice as fast as the fronts on these cars. I got about 15k per set of rear Bridgestone RE050 tires and about 30 on the front set. I drive spiritedly, and was in a few autocrosses where there was lots of sliding around.

You might want to double check that for sure. I don't think you will want to rotate the tires on your 911!!!!

SuperPenguin is infamous around these parts
I went out in left field and had a set of Bridgestone S-04s put on. I've had them on for about 4,000 miles of very spirited driving, and so far they feel just as good as the Pirelli N-rated tires the car came with, and they are wearing much more slowly than the Michelins or Pirellis do. Can't recommend them enough.

Lots of variables impact tire life including, driving style, tire pressure, road conditions, etc. Having said that I have about 20,000 on my PSS and the fronts look fine. Rears will get replaced when I switch to my Conti All Seasons for the winter.

I'm surprised how often some of you guys change tires. I am telling you, my rears look like they're going to last 20k easy...

I'm no drag racer but I most definitely do not drive like grandma..

Just changed out the rears of my Michelin SS's. Got 25K out of them and they still were at 3/32. Fronts have plenty of life left in them
