2008 911 Turbo or base 991?

Aloha my fellow members, I recently bought my first 2008 911 S cabriolet and immediately I became a porsche loyalist. Now I am seriously considering between 2008 turbo vs base 991 about same price range. Which one would you choose and why one is better than the other? Thanks for all your opinion. Happy thanksgiving to you and your family.

I would think the base 991 would be $100k plus-I wish my 08 turbo cab would be in that range (probably-maybe mid 80's as it has lots of mods)) Anyway-if you are interested in modding the car get the turbo and go for it--otherwise get new technology and warrantied new model.

Base 991 not doing it for me...at all. I saw one on the road the other day and it looked rather pedestrian. The console is just weird. I did see one with the aero kit at the dealer, an S, and liked it a lot. New 991 you're taking the equity hit, more so on a base car IMO. The used Turbo offers so much more and no new car equity hit. If you're already swapping P cars then you obviously have "those tendencies" to maybe do this every year or so??? (I speak from experience in other hobby/toy excursions I've been on) :-) Other than our company vehicles, I always buy my toys slightly used.

Get a 997TT manual and it will stay as a special car for many years.

I'd go for the 997 Turbo. 2009 Turbo just for the updated electronics. If it's was a 991 Carrera S... it would be a harder decision. I love how the new body style looks.. and the interior.

Aloha, earlier this yr i got a nice 07 997 Turbo tip with CPO from Honolulu dealer at great price, one owner, 19k miles, cobalt blue, lots of CF, SC- would have preferred a 6speed but i snapped it up for the price- I sold my
nice 02 996 C2 and have a huge smile on my face every time i drive the TT- my advice is get the TT - as others said- once you get a TT, it's difficult to go back. feel free to pm me if you'd like to check mine out- I'm in HI Kai.

Any thoughts about a 4S vs a turbo if money was not an issue

So subjective. For me, the C4S was always the best looking package. The beautiful turbo body relieved of the drama of fins, wings and holes in the rear quarter panels. If money was not an issue and I had to have the power of the turbo I'd probably get a 4S and add a $10K supercharger.

The 991 base will be worth half in about 5 years time, the 997 turbo will not lose much depreciation. The turbo is faster and feels more special.

Aloha.
Mahalo (thank you in Hawaiian) for everyone wonderful thoughts and inputs. I also think 997 probably has the best body design from Porsche all time. I am also not surprise overwhelmingly favor 997TT vs base early 991. I am also leaning heavy on the 997TT also. Please feel free to express your thoughts here.
Pgrpph- wow, nice car love the blue color too. But I am focusing on MT vs Tips, anyhow, your car is beautiful

This statement is from my salesman... it'll be easier to sell a new model than an old model. Enthusiasts are willing to buy old cars but if it's time to sell, wide range of buyers prefer the newer model with modern bells and whistles.

I know the comment deviates from your question but might be helpful. Good luck, (for me) either way it's a win-win.
