A tragedy. Unfortunately, some initial reports indicated that there may have been some street racing involved. In any case they must have been going fast.

Lol, whatever

No one is saying it happened at 45 mph but street racing and speeding are very different things, just because he was speeding doesn't mean he was street racing

European papers are reporting speeds over 100 at 45 - with another car possibly being involved in racing. Either way - very sad.

Maybe its just me...but to think the GT just crumpled like that ...even after igniting is shocking to me...A witness (I think a shop employee) said he heard the turbo(s) kick in and then a loud bang...to spool those up at low speeds sounds contrary to what I know...

Another sad and 'not making sense' thing to me is that after looking at the type of shop AE is, why didn't they install an extinguishing system? and further what about a cage? (I am not familar with caging a GT, but nonetheless with the amount of power the other cars in the fleet are putting down; It would make sense to beef up the protection...)

Very sad--hate to hear this...both he and Rog are leaving behind children...horrible horrible horrible...

I uploaded this picture---I find it crazy how sometime people 'predict' their own destiny...

Google the road they were on: Hercules Street, Santa Clarita, CA
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Hercu...ed=0CAoQ_AUoAg

The point where the car came to rest is near the "15 m.p.h." right arrow solar powered warning sign. You can see that by comparing the footage online to the map.

It's a nice right-hand bend. They might've lost it negotiating that right-hander - who knows......

Sad thing. I thought seeing the road might give the tragedy some context. It can happen anywhere at anytime.

Except the Carrera GT is naturally aspirated and does not have any turbos.

Yes, at most likely, an extreme speed. Reckless behavior, whether you are racing or not. I am sure they weren't cruising at 45 or "just over" at 55-60.

No kidding---really?!?!? LOL

I know this...but it is a performance tuning shop...they worked on the underground Lambos...aka twin turbo kit gallardos. I believe this was no different.

I saw that too, but one of the videos shows a downed 45 mph sign. Either way, not a high speed road. But then...........
