How much are spark plugs plus labor?
How much are spark plugs plus labor?
I have a 997 (2007) Carrera and just took it to the dealership for it's 40k mile service and they mentioned it's time to have the spark plugs replaced. They're charging $480. I know I have 6 spark plugs...does this price sound reasonable?
I haven't been able to find any reputable Porsche mechanics in my area yet which is why i just went ahead and took it to the dealership.

My indy shop says $14.00 a piece for the plugs ($84.00) & 3 hours of labor @ $90.00 per hour ($270.00) = $354.00 plus tax. keep in mind that dealers generally charge more than indy shops for labor.

Not certain what you mean, but my shop annotates my maintenance book and provides an itemized invoice that I put in the file for the car at home. Is that what you mean, or did you mean something else?

Thanks guys for the feedback, glad to know it's at least in the same ballpark price wise.
Yes I think, I meant the service history or electronic documentation based on the vin number that the dealership pulls up on their end when reviewing what type of work has been done to the car. I was under the impression that info was available via car fax and through whatever system the dealerships use when you take it in for service.

Indy shops will likely not be able to upload any information on the car into the Porsche NA database unless they are a Porsche certified/authorized service provider. But again, if you have an itemized bill, you have proof of any work that was done.

Anyway keeping a paper receipt is the best form of documentation and no one can deny you have been taking care of it and it is available without "asking" for it.
