They're stock on the newer cars I believe...not sure what year it started. My 09 has them. It came with them so I have no reference. Someone on here or RL was saying their did NOT have them and they added them.

 

If your just looking for sound enhancement and you have a non s model you can block the smaller diameter hose coming from the air box with and oil bottle cap. Here's a link.

It's stock on my 2012 997.2S as well.

 

i was the one who actually ordered the part from suncosast before. most of the US cars would have it stock that is why it was not kept in stock. this upgrade has very good effect if your oirignal airbox did not have it. most of the sound enhancement i heard from inside the cabin. the acceleration runs have a nicer growl and you acutally hear the car accelerating!! its very nice. but first you should checkif your car already has it. open and airbox and have a peek at the two side panels…youll know. some ROW cars have plain plastic panels..

 

My 2006 C2S had it stock...

 

The panels for the .1's are different from the .2's as the airboxes are different. I beliebe the .1's have one big panel.

 

So, if you gave this filter, do you still benefit if plug the opening with the oil can cap? Is the sound increase cumulative?

 

i owuld think so the sound that is coming from these panels is really air being sucked into the engine thorugh the filter sound. these screens only let the sound thorugh. the so called helmholtz resonator is something that affects the sound downstream of the intake system. so if the resonator is blocked off there could be additional sound….

 

I have them stock on my 09 Cs. Do not notice anything to speak of.

I put in a question to them lets see if it fits the .1 cars.

 

The 997.1's also a similar screen although shaped differently and i think its located under the air box. The .1's have 1 bigger rectangular shaped screen.

 

I pulled out my air box and here's how it looks like from the bottom. I have a 07 997.1S.

 

Suncoast said it is not for the .1 cars.
