depressed clutch loud popping sound
When depressing my clutch there is now a loud mechanical sounding pop which can be heard even from outside the car. It seems like there is an inch or two play between pressing then engaging the clutch. This just started happening this past week, and I'm about to drive over two hundred miles and was wondering if this would be a problem on the road or is something I can fix or just a dealer.
had that problem too. (fix by itself)
more frequent on reverse (often)
rarely append on downshift (append like 5-6 times)
never append on upshift.
anyone seen this?
my 997.1 is still CPO. so I will get that check. but i'm afraid they will say "we could not replicate the problem"

my car is a 2007 as well. I'd like more information on that piece too. For some reason it stopped when I moved the carpet and thought my wife had jammed it up under the pedal. But it continued, and I removed the carpet so that wasn't it. It isn't doing it now though after my 200 mile round trip yesterday.

I wish I could. Don't have the car anymore. It was funny. It was sticking, or clicking for a little while, then I pushed it hard and I guess it broke off. Didn't affect the performance of the clutch, but I guess it broke. Dealer found the problem, without a lot of difficulty.
Luckily still not making that popping and the clutch feels normal. So I didn't have a problem at all on the trip, other than getting a three inch screw buried into my tire. Luckily I found an autoparts store nearby and used a tire plug. Of course I needed a new tire after that which comes in tomorrow. The plug worked great for the remainder of the trip to get home but is far from permanent. The tire guy was surprised that my 2007 Porsche didn't come with a spare tire or run flats.
Gotta say though that tire plug is one PITA to use. I basically had to roll the weight of the car onto the tool to get it to go through the Micheline pilot sport.
I will look into the car for any plastic parts laying around the clutch area, but so far it seems good to go.
I had a blast on my trek. I've never had a car that made any long drive enjoyable every minute and every second of the trip.
