BlueTooth???

I have a 2006 997 C2. I have Navigation, Heated Seats, etc... I have the module for a SIM card for a phone, but don't want to use it. Any suggestions on aftermarket BlueTooth products that intergrate into the car? I don't want a visor clip on or anything like that...

Just out of curiosity, does anyone use the SIM chip port for a phone in the car?

while that slot may be there its not active unless you have the phone module. I don't think many in the US would use this.In europe if you drive a lot between countries it could be handy to have a prepaid sim in the various countries you could use.

It would be on the option sheet or if you put a sim in the slot it will allow you to dial from the car. Would not be a common option for us market. For BT, Denison seems to be popular.

They use it if they have the phone module along with it.I have the sim card port but the option of the phone module was not ordered when purchased. Go with the Dension Gateway 500SBT unit, you will be very happy with it's capabilities. It is covered a lot here on the forum.

If you install a sim chip in the port and you have the module it will work.If you don't it will tell you on the NAV screen. Pretty simple...

Now that I think about it... I bought the car as a PO vehicle a few months ago. There is an ipod cable in the glove box. I have NO idea how to use it. I may explore that... but wouldn't that require me contacting the previous owner?

No, open your lower console and if you have the connections you'll see them at the from of the opening.

wife's '08 c4 had bose system with bluetooth but did not have navitgation. It also did not have ipod capability. We had ipod connetion installed but you had to toggle between blue tooth and ipod. That was unacceptable so we replaced receiver and intalled alpine unit that did it all. Now i have the receiver and the module that allows bluetooth sitting on my workbench. The bluetooth option was $600.00 if I recall correctly.

Don't be too quick to discount the Jabra Freeway Bluetooth device. $65 from Amazon and it works like a champ (for what it is). Clear, reliable Bluetooth and using FM modulation, very good "playback" (Pandora, iTunes, Sirius/XM) thru the PCM 2.1 headunit/speakers. I have it on my 2007 C2S, and for the money spent, am quite satisfied. Long battery life and standby time, easy operation and great portability. Not too shabby for the price.

Feel free to reach out anytime: eric@bumperplugs.com

We can walk you through various options for adding Bluetooth (and iPod, USB, Aux if desired).

Do you have a model number for the Jabra Freeway bluetooth? Amazon is showing a lot of them. Do I need to add anything to have it piped through my 2006 997 stereo?
Cheers,

Jacques
