911 Hunting, Need advise!
I agree, if that is what you want, stick with it. Unless you don't have a car to drive, I would just wait until the right car comes along. I would not get black, black is great on someone else's car. It looks dirty more than it does clean. I'm actually regretting getting black, too **** and OCD to own a black car.
I'll add a slightly different take. If you haven't seen many colors in person, go see them if you have access. You might be surprised how beautiful some of these colors are that don't really photograph well. I did not want blue, they always looked sparkly and dusty in pics. I went to see one at a local dealer and the car was stunning in person...and SOLD. I REALLY wanted white. You can see in my avatar what I ended up with. I bought it because it first and foremost a good value based on what I was getting...997.2, S, 13k miles, CPO, extremely clean and well cared for car. Second was the color, it was not my first choice. NOW...it's my favorite color! :-) I still love white and will probably own a white one at some point, but I am 110% satisfied with what I have. So much of that satisfaction though comes from the overall condition and the options that make the DRIVING experience awesome.
And to second some opinions here....$47k is WAY too much for that 05 regardless of miles and condition. You can get an 09 997.2 non S car for $50k, so be patient. My comfort price was also around $50k, took me about a year to finally pull the trigger and buy a car and I spent $61k. Best extra $11k I ever spent! It makes a sound at 4000 RPM's that makes hot women faint and babies cry!

In the spirit of full transparency I initially wanted a grey non-S eith a six speed and ended up getting a racing green "s" with the PDK transmission , the car was in fantastic condition with low miles and a full clear bra on it already so I couldn't pass it up, only regrets are that I didn't get one with the full leather, now I live the car and the color, just still find me envying thr cars with the full leather or sport seats
Personally, I would opt for the newer model that is in the exact color you want and saves you $12,000. As you pointed out, you could use that to mod the car exactly to your liking.
Just my $.02.
Good luck and enjoy the search!

My only input is that you shouldn't care two flips about embarrassing yourself with a low offer. Don't worry about getting cursed out. There's nothing wrong with telling it like it is. "Hey, I will give you $x cash for that car." In the end you are offering. There is no worse buyer feeling (in my opinion) than when a seller accepts my first offer. I hate that because I will forever wonder how much I left on the table.
is that '07 lapis or cobalt blue. I have that car in an '05 non-s and (i love the color, that is what sold me on the car right away!!) mine is cobalt blue. i think lapis is much darker. they do call this one lapis, but i think in error. can anyone confirm the color?
btw, i was also looking for an S in silver, grey or red. I would not even entertain black!! and didn't want white or yellow.
a cobalt blue 911 non-S came through a dealership that was looking for a 911 for me and as soon as i saw this blue, it was a done deal. Of course I did my due diligence and it was CPO'd and done!
I do not regret getting a non-S, the difference is not even recognizable to me. i do not race it, it is sad to say i barely drive it. I put 700 miles on it the first year i had it!!
I plan to drive it a lot more this year!!
good luck in your search. go after the color of your choice first! assuming options and condition are equal.

Hi folks- Let me introduce myself. My name is Sam and I'm a HUGE Porsche fanatic. I've always dreamed of owning a 911(Lapis Metallic Blue exterior color to be exact
) and I'm very close to buying my first Porsche. I came to a conclusion that I can only afford a Carrera S model or below but would prefer an "S" in my favorite color which I might add is very hard to find, so I narrowed my search online and after intense searching, there are only 2 911's that catch my attention. So basically I need some advise from you Porsche fans/owners out there on which route I should take. The first model is a 2005 Carrera S with only 18,500 miles + extended warranty till 30k miles and is equipped with a bunch of options such as an OEM Aero-Kit, Misha duck tail, 3M clear bra, Rear LED tail lights, OEM Carrera S II wheels, FabSpeed Maxflo mufflers and exhaust tips. (I've included links to each car for pics) Price Tag - $47K Link # 1: http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...SOMEDGPPOBSITE The second model is 2 yrs newer and is a 2007 with 54,000 miles and is just a base Carrera without all the other options mentioned on the "S" model above. Now you might be saying to yourself at this point, well that's an easy decision Sam! Not really because this particular 911 has the color I've always wanted and besides that If I was to purchase this model I would do some upgrades slowly to personalize the car by adding a GT3 Front bumper conversion, 997.2 GT3 rear bumper, replace both rear tail lights, and front running lights, and maybe add a wing + custom black wheels. Price Tag - $35K (SAVINGS OF $12,000 between both 911's) Link # 2: http://www.almgwinnett.com/detail-20...-11603695.html I'm hoping you owners can help me a little. Thanks!

I made a low but reasonable offer last year for a local 06 S at our ONLY dealer...car had a LOT of owners, like 8, non CPO, etc. It was "thanks, but we'll sit on it until Spring before we take hit on the car". I thought about that car a LOT the next few months and it did sell. Glad as hell I didn't offer more on that car! But if I had got my price, I would have bought it at a price I would not get hurt at.
Again, look at your past experience with new hobbies or whatever. Are you in and out pretty quick? Or are you in, upgrading, upgrading again, then out? We have a saying in the dirt bike world for new riders coming in or getting back into riding after years...you buy a bike, you buy another bike, then you buy the RIGHT bike! I have made it a point to try to at least get to the "another bike" stage on step 1!
