CPO expire end of april. things to get the dealer to check
hi all,
my CPO expire at the end of april on my 2006 C2S cab manual, 40k miles. as I don't plan on getting an extended warranty, I will get the dealer to do an inspection on it. Anything I should ask specifically to be checked?
I have to get an old change and spark plug changed. while they are at taking the plugs out, would it be a good idea to ask them to put a camera in the cylinders to check for bore cylinder?
apparently when they change the spark plugs they find "something" pack to be cracked... what is this? covered by CPO?
anything else specifically to ask to be check?
thanks

coil packs... should be covered.
Don t think they ll want to do a scope if there is no issues with the engine,,,, or they ll charge you up the a@@ to do it. Although maybe if those years had the scored cylinder issue s it may be worth it.

I keep bugging them to get my CPO renewed but they can't. and what they offer as a 3rd party warranty is ridiculus...
in french sorry... but 1 year 2 years and 3.
12 mois/20 000 Km 5 547,00 $
24 mois/40 000 Km 6 362,00 $
36 mois/60 000 Km 7 177,00 $
so I will get an inspection and sit next to the mecanic doing it...
should not be too expensive to put the camera in there as they already have the spark plugs out...
so, naything specific to have them check?

ensural is a fine print catch...
ensurall policy is if your call is 7 years and older, the max is $2000 per claim...
need engine replacement: ok it cost $20 000, we pay $2000 so you pay $18 000
so totally useless...

They inevitably found two or three things to fix under their warranty, things that I didn't even know about and probably wouldn't have discovered for a long time (if ever). The best example was that the Lexus had a crack in a front suspension arm that was replaced under warranty. In both cases they clearly gave the car a thorough going over. Most importantly, they know the common problems with their cars and know a long list of things to look for.
The dealer's shop makes considerable money on warranty repairs. I have to assume the same thing would hold true for Porsche and they would perceive this as an opportunity to make a customer very happy while also making some honest dollars at minimal customer expense.
My bottom line suggestion: Just ask them what they'll charge (if anything) to do such an inspection. It can't hurt and you may be pleasantly surprised at the answer.

My dealership was kind enough to proactively replace several items that were prone to failure post-warranty right before my warranty period ended. These items included: Water pump, Coolant Tank, Coil Packs, RMS seal, IMS seal.
Mind if I ask who the dealer was? Your post is essentially a positive review, not a negative one.
Not exactly, my dealer gives out free quarterly inspection and my service adviser knew when my CPO expires, the told me to take it in a week before CPO expires and they will have it thoroughly checked out to fix anything that needed to be fixed under warranty. My SA is a car guy and a Porsche fan and my mechanic who inspected my car is on the forum and is also a Porsche guy.
Damn Posting here for later...
I'm going to save this a little later just in case.
A close friend of mine was actually really skeptical on whether or not he wanted to purchase a soon to be ( within a year ) CPO car private party... Might want to pu thim onto this so he isn't that scared
