PSE Voltage
PSE Voltage
Greetings from new owner of a 2007 C2S 997 cab. The car has 37k miles and it is loaded with just the perfect options, including PSE. I noticed that the PSE sound was different from what I have been hearing before. I replaced the solenoid that was stuck open, and the new one got stuck open too. What I mean is that if I blow air on the solenoid, the air is not supposed to pass through unless power is applied to it, but it does. I measured the voltage at the solenoid and I get 14.0 with sport mode off and 10.5 with sport mode on. Is the DME toast?
Seems like most owners with PSE (Porsche Syndrome Exposure, ha!) seem to keep the sxhaust system in the "open" position a majority of the time anyway. I would prefer it to be "broken" in the open vice the closed position.

Not sure what your full diagnosis is but +1 me for permanently loud... thus why I went the lighter and louder Fabspeed route.
Anywho... PSE works, assuming 9x7 PSE architecture is similar to 9x6, more or less counter intuitively (until you understand Porsche logic). What I mean is by default the PSE valves at the cans are relaxed / free flowing / open & loud. Thus why you can usually hear a quick loud exhaust burble while starting vehicle before the PSE valves slam closed.
When the PSE switch (or Sport if S/C optioned) is illuminated ('on' sometimes mean 'off' in Porsche speak - LOL), you are preventing the valves function to close (and go quiet). However, in OEM set-up (or aftermkt wired like OEM) the vehicle also needs to exceed ~ 3200RPM or so (cannot recall exact and don't recall if there is a min speed threshold too - system is designed around European noise abatement stds as I'm told). Only when both conditions are met will the valves return to their 'relaxed' state of open/free flowing/loud and proud.
Hope this helps
