Third radiator on a mainly street driven car.

Just installed the third radiator on my 2010. Now i feel the car is better designed to minimize heat caused problems. Bought the set long time ago but had to wait till car out of warranty before putting it on. First few runs i noticed the water temp still warming up almost as quickly as before. However, the oil temperature warms up a lot longer than before. The 2011 pdk cars have the third radiator standard. This was the only difference i know for the 2011 cars so im supposing that porsche saw something of benefit to make it standard. In addition one of our brothers here had a problem with the pdk all of a sudden giving up. Problem could have been heat related.
Dont know if the fuel consumption will be affected due to longer oil temperature rise but heat related issues should be minimized. Something im willing to give up some fuel mileage for.
The set being sold for the 997.1 essentially will fit the 997.2. Radiator is the same hoses are the same. Holder is teh same. But you need to but the center air guide and two side air guides. I did some modifications to the side air guides to make it fit the center guide. Like most said it adds weight and might not be needed, but , like insurance it gives me peace of mind.

Sometimes im too excited to get things accomplished and forget to take pics though i know its good to share. I will take after pics.
No i did not take the lower thermostat. I personally dont agree with benefits of lower thermostat. If there is actually a way to link the thermostat to the oil temp now i woukd be happier. The oil temp takes more time to get to operating levels. allowing the water to heat up till oil gets to operating temp might be a better. This is my opinion.
I now have maximized area for heat removal. In a tropical country it can only be a good thing.

I personally know that my oil temp is generally lower with the thermostat. There are a bunch of arguments about keeping the oil at ?215? and I am on the opposite side of this argument.

In either case, enjoy your 3rd radiator. You might want to also consider the smile-vent to assist with air flow.

The standard 997 3rd radiator kit vents out of the bottom. The much more expensive GT3 3rd radiator vents out of the top. There is no need for the smiley vent with the standard 3rd radiator kit, unless like me you just happen to like the look.

agreed phil. standard vents to lower part of bumper. mine had the marks so it was easier to cut it out. other bumpers i think do not have the marks and therefore needs some guessing. i really think the 3rd rad was made for the 997 otherwise all these preps would not have been there.
