Buying my first Porsche TODAY, need help
Found this car online wanted to get everyone feedback on it,
its a 2008 Carrera Targa 4s,sport chrono,nav,bose,as 63,ooo miles 1 owner car.
paid for the ppi and everything came out good including the DME report, no over revs ,
They did find the clutch bell housing is a little wet, tech said it may be the clutch area seal. but that the clutch did feel good, said maybe in 10k to 15k it may need a clutch replacement, other then that the car is immaculate. clean car fax.
the price is $44,898, they are willing to pay for the transportation from Arizna to New Jersey
Im also considering an extended warranty from Allstate for $3800 2 yrs or 20k miles.
what do you guys think????

Not that I think it is a problem and it isn't all that unusual, but it appears that the front bumper has been repainted, at least as it is seen in photos 2 and 6 especially. It's hard to get the color match perfect at all lighting angles in a single panel repaint. The nose tends to catch a lot of chipping so maybe they decided to clean it up. I doubt it was anything major since the PPI didn't call it out. My 2006 had the have the nose repainted due to impact with a board that the truck ahead of me dropped on the road. Even with insurance paying for a proper fix it never showed up on the Carfax. I personally don't think it is a big deal (especially if you are keeping for a long time and don't have to worry about resale anytime soon) and it is maybe even desirable to start with a clean bumper.
It is certainly a wonderfully beautiful and rare car! You just want to make sure you understand how much a clutch replacement costs since at those miles it isn't all that unlikely it will need to be done soon. Did you find out about service records and current state of service? You'll want to understand the cost of the major service at that mileage if it hasn't been done yet.
Overall if you've done all of your due diligence it looks like a very nice car. As to your tolerance for the negotiation process, I'd say you could probably get it for a few thousand less (since the price you are saying is the asking price). You'll also want to make sure the shipper uses a high-end closed transport, I'd be wary of what the dealer chooses for "free" shipping.

That appears to be a very clean car, especially given the mileage. What strikes me is the condition of the seats. With 63k miles, you'd expect the leather on the seats to appear less tight. Indicates the car appear to have been taken care of. I like the Targa's, and that seems like a nice example. The miles are a tad high for my taste, but the price does not seem bad.
One more thing. It is pretty surprising that there are NO over-revs in the DME. Normally you'd expect to say at least something in the first slot (which isn't bad). Are you sure the PPI was done by a neutral third party? Of course, it could be that the driver just never did any aggressive driving and just drove it for the love of it.
On the good side, I see that the seller has a 97% rating on eBay which isn't bad for a car dealer.

@stormrune
the dealer is firm on there price due to 6 new plugs and coils they had to replace when they got the car. the ppi was done by a third party that i found. ppi tech did see slight revs on #1,2,3 but nothing alarming,, he said it seems the owner drove it easy.
@ mattyf----
correction:
clutch is totaly fine, the tech did take it on the highway and ran it hard 3 times and he said that at of the 3 times he bang third gear it slip very little not a big deal but that it might need a clutch in 10k to 15k from now.
the ppi was done by a private tech, shop is call stugartt southwestern.
and on the rms/ims he told me there are no leaks, but that there was a slight bit of wetness on the clutch bell housing,,it could be the clutch oil seal.
has anyone heard of the allstate warranty company???

Okay, I feel better about the PPI with the report of the slight revs on 1-3. It now seems fully legit.
No info on the insurance company, but I'm anxious to see the answers you get in case I keep this car past the CPO.
Sounds like a great buy... it's virtually impossible to find the absolutely perfect car and this one looks pretty damned close enough. Best of luck!

It has been on the dealer lot since mid January. You might be able to get the price down.
Maybe enough to pay for the extended warranty and then you do not have to worry it the RMS is beginning to have issues.
The clutch different issue. No extended warranty covers that at 63k.
Nice car, rare car, very good condition

The tech that completed the ppi, told me the reason he ruled out the ims/rms leaking was because he found no contaminents in the oil filter housing area, this is why he is leaning more towards the small oring in the clutch housing.
Might ask for a split for the cost of the warranty. Also, ask your local shops/dealer if they work with allstate on warranty claims. My Indy shop has gone to cash/credit only.

What are slight overevs? Won't he show you the report?
Good luck
I had a 06 Targa for a few years and loved it.
buy some Sail Kote to work out any rattle you may have in the roof mechanism. The stuff lasted about a year per application for me and totally took them away.
