When moving from our original pilot sport tires to super sport , should there be any change in cold tire inflation pressures? Cant recall any topics iv read on this..are there redommendations from michelin?

 

I've run both PS2's and PSS's on my previous 997.2 GTS and my current 991S. I've always run the same pressures in both types of tires and can't think of any reason why they should be any different. Porsche had 3 different N-rated tires for the 997.2 and didn't differentiate between them in recommended tire pressures. Changing tire size could affect pressures, but not tire model.

Would not disagree with you bro. My questioning mind says the inflation pressure essentially is determined by the shape of the tire. The pressure is set by the amount that sets the best footprint based on the tires shape and material. Now the super sport boasts of new twaron thread that are said to keep a flatter footprint. Now this could result to a different inflation pressure, due to the different shape and material of the tire...just thinking.

 

The best bet would be to do a "chalk test".
In a nut shell:
Basically draw a line across all 4 tires with chalk.
drive down the road & see how the chalk wears off.
If the outer edges wear off but not the middle, then increase tire pressure & repeat.
If the inside wears off but not the outer edges, then decrease tire pressure & repeat.
If it wears off evenly, tire pressure & contact patch is optimal.
Just find a flat stretch of road.

 

Set either to placarded pressure if the same size.
