When was the last time it was serviced? Did you shut it down and check for fluids leaking or anything? Was it making any strange noises?

i just bought it on dec/2013. Did PPI @ newport Porsche with high recommendation before purchasing the car. No leak or any strange noises. This problem occurred when I was driving last night.

I've read a few threads on that error over the past few months, it seems to come on for various things, none that I've read about so far were catastrophic issues. Some were simple things like the gas cap seal had gotten old, O2 Sensors, Engine misfires, others were about the computer's perception of the engine's emissions, the cats, etc.

One thing that stuck with me after reading the threads is that if it's a flashing CEL vs. a solid CEL then that's a problem you should deal with right way, and that a YELLOW engine CEL, is not as dramatic (you can still drive the car) as a RED engine CEL which is apparently the "pull over and shut it off right now" light.

Most threads also suggested pulling the codes (durametric, some mentioned some iPhone app, & others recommended the dealer) before just resetting the CEL so that at least you'll have a record if the issue recurs.

I don't think it's time to worry yet.

Check the rubber seal in your gas cap, and try and think if there were any other unique circumstances? (custom exhaust, using a different (cheaper) gas, your wife drove the car that morning, high pressure car wash, anything different about today?)

Can you think of any other possible causes?

BTW - I turned 64,694 miles today - exactly 10,000 miles in just over 5 months. Our cars are probably about the same age.

Photo of my cluster on the day I bought it and again on this afternoon's milestone.

Only posting because I thought it interesting we had similar mileage. All pleasure miles, and mostly twisty coastal and mountain / canyon driving up here. Hog Heaven.

Check Engine...Visit Workshop.
Interesting wording, and Humorous!
Visit for say...a cup of coffee?... to say hello?
Who uses the term Workshop?
I can see how this is annoying, you just don't get a sense of....Is this something I need to do ASAP or can I wait till my drive to the vineyard is over?
But now my drive to the vineyard is over because I'm not driving much further, because I'm not sure what this means. My wife is annoyed with me because I can't explain what is goin on, and she says...why can't this $85k car be a LITTLE more specific than, Check Engine, visit workshop?
I'm just sayin...and it's Sunday...and who the hell has a code reader at the vineyard!!...lol!!

recently fill up?
if your gas cap is loose or not on properly you will get this message.

Once you put in on correctly it will take a little time for the check engine to go away. But if you notice it wasnt on peroperly then you are fine and that's what caused it

The warning is actually described pretty well in your owner's manual. Look in the index under "Check Engine Warning Light". It describes what others have responded.
