I am very disappointed in the new BMWs (not to bash yours) thus my e90 335i but at least the new M5/M6 are fun and hopefully M3/M4 will retain some of what made them special too. That being said I do think the 435i will be a great DD, especially with the increase fuel economy.

Omega.
I have a 911 C2S 2009. That is my weekend driver.
Had an 07 (bought new European Delivery) 335i E92. January I traded that in for a 435i.
I love the 435i, reminds me of the 635i I had in the late 80s (also about the same size). Getting 26 mpg mixed driving as compared to the 19-21 with the 911

My work commute is 25 high way miles so it really helps with my fuel economy. I am getting 24 MPGS in the 335i and 26 in the Boxster S. I expect 21 or so with the 911 and that is fine by me!

That's good to hear - about being happy with the 435i. I think it's great looking - got a 6 speed too. My mileage in the Targa is atrocious - 17.5 lifetime average. I think record road trip high is like 26. I'm sure it has nothing to do with driving style.

If I didn't have the 997, I'd be looking at the M4, but happy about the potential economy in the 435. And no, there's nothing rational about buying a DD coupe with a clutch.

911 vs Boxster

I had a 911 C2S that I traded for a BMW 3-Series out of practicality and the need to use it for business. Got bored with it and got a 2010 Boxster S for fun. It was a nice car, but found an affordable 911 C2S and made the jump back - didn't regret it for a minute. And the boring BMW? Going away for a Macan S....

Too funny! I am actually in the process of selling my 335i (decided to get a more fuel efficient DD) but I am also strongly considering buying a Macan S in the future to pair with my 911.
