Headers? Or no Headers?

My current setup in my 2007 997.1 C2S with 10,000 miles is stock with an Innotech Performance Exhaust X-Pipe with 200 cell cats with the factory headers and PSE. The sound is awesome right now, but like everyone, I'd like more. I can add the IPE headers which with the x-pipe and the PSE would be pretty much the same as their F1 package. Anyone have any feelings on the sound and/or power gains? They say that I will loose some of the raspyness of the car, which I kind of like, but I do want exotic. He also claims 15-17 whp.

You will gain maybe 15-17 whp on the butt dyno and that's it! It's a NA vehicle sorry, not worth the expense IMHO...

I agree on the butt dyno, but I am more or less looking for a better sound.

Do you need a tune when running headers and x pipe?

Everything I've read says Porsche headers are good and don't replace them. Cats, exhaust, and tune are about the only improvements you can make.

Leave the oem alone, many aftermarket headers crack... i dont see how you can gain more than maybe 1whp if so from headers on a NA 997... you better remove those cats and i bet the gains will be at least the same, you should get also better sound... get your money elsewhere... make the car lighter maybe and this will be like adding power... do suspension mods... braking...or spend some time with your GF/wife somewhere nice with those money

Intake & exhaust mods in unison period! NA vehicles will only be minimal...

I am currently running high flow cats with the 200 cell cats. I don't plan on dropping the car or anything other than the exhaust. The PSE is sufficient. Why dump it. I am looking for more exotic sound. That's all. Any other kids would be aero kit.

If the headers are equal length they will certainly change the sound. I had my stock 3.8 S headers, X51's and Tubi equal lengths. MUCH prefer the X51's IMO as they retain that signature growl/rumble. The Tubi's, to my ears, sounded a little too 'tuner' and definitely lost the familiar boxer engine sound.

The X51's FEEL like an improvement over stock but the Tubi's didn't add anything additional over X51's.

Unless your set on on changing making the sound raspier, I would stick with X51's. Of course none of these headers are cheap anymore...
