Front plate solution?
Front plate solution?
Has anyone come up with a good looking front plate solution for these beautiful cars?
I can't justify screwing a bracket to my front bumper, and the toe hitch bracket just doesn't do it for me.
I have gone so far to install a metal strip behind bumper cover and glued magnets to the front license plate with some felt over top - when I park I slap in on and before leaving drop it back in the trunk.
I have been lucky so far driving it with no plate but meter maids just love to write that ticket.
I also wanted to get a vinyl copy of my plate that I could stick on so while driving it looks like it's there, but was told it is illegal.
There has to be a better way?

I'm pretty sure that it was over on Rennlist but if you do a search you'll find lots of options (so many I'd have to post a number of links and it would just be easier for you to parse through them). I recall Edgy01 rigged some type of system (with instructions) where the holes were hidden behind the bumper. Someone else even used magnets to hold the front plate on. Off the top of my head though, check out:

This is a system that uses sort of a cantilevered bracket. You still have holes but they are hidden up and underneath the bumper.
Good luck!

You are right about the magnets....earth magnets to be exact!
Cheers

If you have the clearance, you could try www.hidetheplate.com.
But I would think it might get torn off on a speed bump.

Can you be more detailed about how you fixed it? Where are the screw going into? Any more pictures?
Id second the Skene plate holder. I installed mine with mounting tape on the brackets top and bottom. No paint damage at all and dead center on the bumper. Easy to take off if I ever need to (zero holes)
Those are it. If you really want, I can take pics showing the small screws.
