Weird mirror issue....

Just picked up my car from the mechanic. Stopped to get it washed, brought it home and noticed this strange mark inside the mirror. I don’t believe its moisture…………. It wasn't there when I picked up the car. Once again, any input is greatly appreciated.

Actually does look a bit like moisture seeped b/w and is on the back of the laminate/between the surfaces. Try stuffing a paper towel up under the leading edge around mirror to wick the moisture/cleaner back out. Might also mark the outer edge of marked area on mirror surface using a crayon or dry erase marker to see if it spreads/reduces.

i think your mirror might be done for, it's self dimming, this happened to me on a suburban rear view, can't be fixed, only replaced, the liquid used to dim the mirror has leaked, sorry.

Well... I guess that's two things on the list, a new dry cleaner/laundry and a new mirror!

I agree. I think the technology is similar to the "Liquid Crystal Displays (LCDs)" and once that stuff leaks out, the unit is damaged.

That's exactly what it is. I did some research and it seems to be prevalent in BMW's. The liquid is supposedly highly caustic and can drip out and really cause havoc. Just a real idiotic pain in the A#s. I mean before you could be in a 993, and not worry about some goop dripping on your kneecaps, or worse yet the dashboard. (Also, the only apparition in the mirror is me in a wrinkled Ralph Lauren shirt..... sorry to disappoint).
