which fabspeed CAI did you install?

To be fair, I think your post says you installed both the intake and exhaust and netted 17whp. I don't think you can point to the intake as being the source of the gain.

Yea, I was thinking about that, but the exhaust still had all the cats and everything. It didn't do much in terms of sound to be honest -- wasn't impressed. The Borla exhaust sounds way better, IMO.

But you are right, the 17HP prob needs to be split between the intake and exhaust. Prob not 50/50 though.

Because I sold the car. I had an 997.1 with the intake. Now I have 997.2 4S. I wrote "I had a Fabspeed air intake installed on my previous car. " in my post.

WOW. All that from a cold air intake. Why didn't Porsche think of that. Everyone looking for huge HP ( RWHP at that ) and nearly equal TQ gains ( amazing ), should get one of those.

Do I detect a note of cynicism here?

I guess there would be because its common knowledge that na engines take a lot more to extract more power and here is a thread saying a simple intake charge nets more than 10hp. That is like saying its free. I have replaced intakes on several na cars of mine, filter cai's but really never felt any "significant" increase in hp....more really a sound improvement for more of the intake mods i have done.

Ok marlon, noted bro. With the significant increase in the 997.1, that hp increase should be felt already, do you think its also worth putting in your 997.2?

No, because my current car has a 2 year Porsche Warranty on it, which I would blow if I added something like an aftermarket intake. Plus the 997.2S engine has a 30HP increase over the 997.1S I had. That with the PDK quick shifts, I feel the car is plenty fast.

Once the warranty has passed, who know I might ponder adding a similar air intake, improved plenum and such. They are fairly "cheap" compared to the ridiculously expensive X51 package.

The before and after dyno results are there and they point to a 17HP increase. Now, I'm no expert on dyno tests and maybe the results are not accurate or differ from day to day conditions.

To each their own I'm looking fwd to the weekend so I can do some canyon driving

NB: Porsche's intakes are true "cold air". You can change out filters and reduce restriction a little perhaps at the potential risk of more crap getting into your engine, or too much oil messing up mas, etc. Fwiw, no intake drawing air from inside the engine compartment can be a "cold air" intake. This has been pointed out over and over.

I wasnt talking about the exposed pod filters Im talking about the silicone hose from the stock box to the throttle body, being silicone it has a higher heat tolerance than rubber and with smooth inner walls is less restrictive when air passes through it.

Ok so i am going to give this mod a go for tiptronic breather hose, I plan on inserting the breather hose into a silicone tube about inch or so long then insert that into the side of the cold air intake after drilling a snug hole in the side. Just need something to seal around and make it air tight, does anyone have any knowledge on binding silicone to silicone? Would a soldering iron gun weld silicone to silicone?
