Do you wave at other 911 drivers???
at first I was waving every Porsche I saw.
but realized cayenne and panamera don't wave back.
it's a challenge with my girlfriend regarding the fact of getting a reply for the other P owner. the lower the speed, the higher change I have to win

Older 911 almost always waves back, they are usually driven by older men and are aware of other Porsches on the road. I got my first two non waves this week but both of them wasn't paying attention to the other side of the road. So they didn't see me wave.
997/996 drivers usually will wave back but they seem to be focus more on one side of the road and usually don't see me wave.
Boxster/Cayman wave back if they are driven by men.
Cayennes/Panamera rarely if ever wave back, Cayennes are usually driven by women (at least around here) and Panamera by men. I stopped waving at them, there's no point unless they wave at me first.
Women Porsche drivers in any model usually avoid eye contact.

Got a toot of the horn and a friendly wave from a Cadillac STS V12 owner this morning. He was following me on some back roads near work.
That V12 is fast on the straights but couldnt keep up when the road got twisty.

Like someone else said, I wave at all cool cars.
I do make it a point to try to wave at other 911's if we are passing each other, though. I always get waves back from coupes. Convertibles, rarely.

For Porsches: I'd say that more around half of the 911s respond. Guys in Cayennes occasionally respond, women never do (I don't think they even notice another Porsche is around or are just really really good at that ignoring-a-guy thing). Boxsters seem to work hard to ignore your existence. Caymans respond about as often as 911s. Panameras are probably the most likely to not wave back (men and women) even though they tend to see you.
As an observation, no one in Raptors or Range Rovers waves when I'm driving one. When I had a Wrangler nearly every Wrangler waved.
A more interesting observation on human nature is when I had a H1 and H2 at the same time for a while. H2 owners would generally do their best to ignore the fact there was another H2 on the road. However, when I saw those exact same people when driving the H1 they would wave, quite frantically at times, nearly 100% of the time. I drew my own conclusions about this behavior.
it's the opposite for me. a cab always wave back to me (cab too)
Last week, we found ourselves driving next to an s cab 997 here in st louis, i yelled over "love your car" and he yelled , "i was just thinking that about yours".
i wave at other 911's , no matter the year. I feel a little strange waiving at cayennes , boxsters , panameras and others. i guess i draw the line at 911's beacause, where does it end? waive to all german cars next? and of course , if anybody waives in any porsche, i have enough manners to waive back. don't want to perpetuate that porcupine myth.

There aren't a lots of Porsches where I live compared to say SoCal. So I wave - but like the others mentioned, my experience limits me to 911 and Caymans now. The others just don't acknowledge. My wife and kids thinks it's so "car nerd" like behavior. But many times I am NOT the first to wave because they saw me first. So my wife and kids help me wave back now.
Here is the pattern: I flash/wave at passing Pcar with no response. Same for second one. Third car I ignore but he waves at me, too late. Now I feel guilty and wave at the next guy............and so it goes

Today, waved at a 997 and he looked at me like I was retarded. A Cayenne driver in silver waved at me on the highway and I waved back. I wouldn't of waved first as I don't look out for these cars. It was nice though. Then a vintage 911 from the 80's was side by side in great shape. I waved and the other driver looked surprised at first and then enthusiastically waved back. Waving seems to be a slippery slope...
