Considering ditching the 997.2 C2S for new Cayman S
I ask myself this very question all the time. I've had my 997.1 S since it was new in 2008 and love it, but it is hard to ignore the performance of the Cayman.
I face off with Caymans in autocross // HPDE all the time and we are always neck-and-neck. Frustrating from a car so much cheaper than mine.
Reviews of the new Cayman GTS are pretty outstanding but pricey. The new Cayman S models already outperform the base 911 off the showroom floor, so if I was looking for a car right now from the dealer, I would pick the Cayman S.
At the end of the day, you have a Porsche no matter what. That's a good day.

Agree. Iconic shape ... most evolved automotive design on the planet. Incredible racing history. Made in the same building in Stuttgart since the very first one. That's the upside. Downside is hamstrung cornering (thanks to that iconic design) and useless rear seats. The 991 is a great evolutionary step though and even better performer than ever. The fact a 991 S bests a 997 GT3 around Nurburgring speaks volumes. If I still lived in Germany I would get a 991 since GT driving (autobahn blasting) is mainly what you need there, and the 991 (S) would deliver in spades. Of course I'd rather have a Cayman S for lapping Nurburgring. Less potential for shunts
