997S exhaust soot

Hi Folks;
As Robert said the oil separator had nothing to do with it. I burned through another quart of oil in 201 miles after I picked up the car. I have now returned it to the dealer and they said they think they are, “going to a tear down of the engine” but are waiting to hear back form Porsche Tech before they start.

I don't think every RMS ends up with a new engine. Perhaps a new seal, but not a new engine. P-car techs use a tool to check the runout from the rear, and if it exceeds a certain amount, then the engine is replaced.
Hi Folks;
According to my dealer there was scoring on the inside of the cylinders on the left side of my engine, which correlates to the side that had the soot build up. Porsche Tech authorized replacing the engine. I’m hoping this is the end of the story.

David,
I think you have/had two things going on here not one....undoubtably consuming a liter of oil in 210 miles is grossly abnormal,however, I think the exhaust soot issue is NOT oil related. On my car I had a compression check and leak down test and all was normal...I also only use a liter to about 2500-3000miles of oil. Surely your car's oil usage and cylinder wall pathology were the reasons for an engine replacement.
I know of at least 6 911S's that have the driver's side darker exhaust...in fact there's one on my dealers showroon floor with7 miles that shows the effect. I think this is strange and an anomoly but not related to oil.
