997TT and new Cayenne Intro
997TT and new Cayenne Intro
Was just at my dealer today and found out some info on the 997TT (as I am theoretically on the waitlist). Unfortunately that "wait" may be longer than expected....
The new Cayenne will be out in the Spring of 2006 and Porsche will not introduce 2 new vehicles at the same time. Therefore, the new 997TT won't be out until later in the year at the very earliest as a 2007 model. Depending on how things go they may wait a year until 2007 to introduce it as a 2008 model - hopefully this is wrong and Porsche won't wait (unless of course there are some technical problems or the market/potential profit margin is not there, but they claim the 997 C2 and C2S have been selling better than expected).
It sounds like the supposed Spring/Summer 2006 intro is incorrect. No one really knows for sure when it will come out, but it WILL be later than most expected, and what it will ultimately look like (despite all the "less-camo-ed" pics which have appeared lately), again no one really knows.
It is highly unlikely there will be a 997 GT2 for the North American market (European special order only) - sorry, old news. We can only speculate therefore when the 997 GT3 will come out. December 2005 will be the last production run of GT's...again old news, sorry.

AMG ETR,
You may be correct on the dates. Like most on these webpages I was hoping that the 997TT would be out next year, earlier better than later. BUT my local dealer felt fairly strongly that do NOT be surprised if we do not see the 997TT until 2007 as a 2008 model
. "Porsche has not decided yet."

The dealer wants to sell you the C2 right now. They always exaggerate.

Yeah, that is what I was getting at...I too was told originally that it would be out next year (2006) and hopefully it will be, BUT when I was at my dealer several of the junior salesman sheepishly told me their boss had possibly "bad news."
His Porsche rep had told him that "Porsche has not decided when to bring the new turbo out" but it definitely will not be when they introduce the new Cayenne. They may even hold off to introduce it as a 2008 model, so we will see it in 2007...who knows! (That news came from the Porsche rep and NOT my dealer).
Maybe they read/heard about all the bad comments of the "less camoed" pics and all the good comments about the F430, and decided a little more work was in order. It would be silly if the Porsche designers/engineers did not atleast keep tabs on what customers and tuners do to their cars as seen on these and other webpages.
As TheJudge says it may be a line of "BS" but I guess we'll find out when we find out and no sooner. Maybe some of you can push your local dealers for a little more info and hopefully I can tell my local dealer that other dealerships are "more fortunate" or that "some one" is not being upfront here.
It sounded like this info from Porsche just came out very recently.
