On the sportier side but speaks to Porsche's Mille Miglia Class success with the 356s and 550s. (Plus, how many watches have bands in the form of 1950s Dunlop Tire tread?)
Thanks a lot! Just when I was settled on a Portuguese Automatic (7 day Power Reserve) Your Top Gun Pilot Double Chrono Ceramic rears it's absolutely not ugly head! What a stunner!!!
Used to have some beauties (Vacheron, Lange, IWC etc…..had a gorgeous Zenith Perpetual…..went through that Phase…….then I just stopped doing that ………sold all but a few!
Zenith Annual Calendar (selling it now to help finance maybe the AP Offshore-in my dreams)
An old gold and steel Breitling Cosmonaute (never sell this one!)
And lastly and old Seiko dive watch that I had restored from the 1970s (model 6105)
for me Rolex watches just seem so dated, (though I still have my submariner). for driving I have always preferred a chronograph, I usually wear my panerai or IWC, but have always been a big fan of tag heuer and that carrera is very nice.
if I had to pair watch brands with cars:
Porsche : Tag Heuer
Aston Martin : Omega (james bond)
Audi : Panerai (the transporter)
Mercedes : IWC
Bentley : Breitling
Corvette : Rolex (every time I pull up next to a corvette the driver is wearing a rolex)
Rolls Royce : Patek
I have always been a believer of having a piece of equipment that matches the adventure. And as many have said it is not about how much it costs, but IMO it is about what suits ones personality. Love Rolex submariner myself, but it seems to me it goes awesome when you are sailing or scuba diving. After all that is what the watch is for. I also love Bell & Ross chronographs, which have more of an aviation motive. Chronographs definitely belong to motorsports and my C2 certainly knows I like, as it gets driven with lots of enthusiasm. Great watches shown here BTW, reiterates the good taste we all Porsche drivers have
This makes perfect sense as, back in the mid-1980's, MacLaren F1 was powered by a TAG/Porsche Turbo. (My memories are pretty shady but I think it was '83 to '87 (Rossberg, Prost, Lauda Watson with two constructors and three drivers championships during that time) but I could be wrong by a few years on the dates.) Below is a commemorative watch
