Need advice on 911 purchase

Looking at two cars a 2009 base carrera with pdk, no sport crono, no certification 46k miles

The other is a 2007 Carrera S sport crono, auto/tip with 31k miles certified.

My question is which is a better buy in your opinion. I like the body upgrades of the 997.2 with led's but like having the "S" with certification also.

I am not a fan of the Tiptronic Auto transmission. The PDK is much, much better.

This I know, but dosent the PDK require more service and sometime software upgrades, hence the higher cost of ownership since its not certified?

No, get the 09, DFI engine, don't have to lose sleep over IMS ,your CPO will expire but your IMS will still be there, plus the 997.2 has a better PCM.

No Question…. The PDK car. If it were a manual there may be more debate but a Tip vs. a PDK car is a simple decision. Or, wet until you can find a .2 S version.

PDK is very reliable. Really no service required.

If both were manual, I'd probably go with the '07. But, I'd never buy a Tip, so PDK wins.

I agree with Cybergypsy, If it where manual I'd choose the 997.1 all day long.

BTW, I have a really clean car for sale in my sig if you go with a manual. New pads, rotors, tires and fluid for the new owner. I'm in Dallas.

With that said, the PDK in my new turbo is awesome!!

The recommendated service on a PDK is: 60,000 miles-change clutch pack oil. 120,000 miles-change transmission oil.

that really depends in my honest opinion.

I was kind of cross shopping between a 09 Boxster base PDK and a 07 Boxster S Tip and was thinking about the up and downs of both cars..

There are zero documented IMS engine failures 07-08 cars.

I think it all comes down to how much you are going to drive the car and are you going to have warranty.

These cars don't need warranty unless you get a 09+, due to PDK. (PDK failure will be Expensive)

The 07-08 should be SAFE and you don't need warranty to keep one.

For someone who drives 40k+ a year (like me) a .1 tip just might be better.

I really don't want as a daily but maybe a 09 Manual would be the perfect car.

I currently have a 2005 Carrera, with tip and it is certainly not "garbage"
I just feel the "S" car with warranty and lower miles might be a better value.

Our 2006 Cayenne S has a TIP tranny and I hate it, go with the PDK.
