It's funny to me how opinionated many (not you) are regarding the red S. I've heard "IT LOOKS LIKE A FRIGGING HYUNDAI" and "PORSCHE SHOULD HAVE MADE IT RED FROM THE FACTORY!!!!1!!"...and I don't think it's that big of a deal either way.
I ordered an extra S (the script will actually be 991 style, as it was cheaper) to paint red, and if I hate it I will be able to easily go back to my stock emblems.
We'll see
Yeah it's funny. It's about 50/50 on this board and 80 percent NO on rennlist.
I used to think it was cool but it wore off on me. It's kinda like the "Corolla S" with the red S to note the silly body kit and alloy wheels ... If you are going to do it though, don't use paint. Use plasti dip which is reversible. Here's a link to a popular three pack (black, white and red) for only 7 bucks: https://www.dipyourcar.com/PlastiDip-Spray-All.html

Good luck!

I just think it will accent the cars red calipers very nicely, especially with "911" rather than "Carrera" on the rear. My floormats also feature red PORSCHE lettering, and it is the main accent color on the car. The car will soon have clear side markers, so the coloring will be black/grey/red, so pretty tame.
I ordered 991 emblems from suncoast, and the S was only $35 bucks. I'll be painting it for an ideal colormatch, and will sell it or throw it away if I hate it. I'll retain the stock emblems to go back to, if needed.

My general rule is if it cost less than $100 I'm not putting it on my car's exterior. That eliminates most of the tacky stuff. Sometimes I see cars and it looks like the owner raided the "sports" accessories aisle at Autozone.

I can't really control the fact that the oem emblems are less than $100...

It's a general rule.
But whether it's OEM or not doesn't change my premise. You can probably buy an OEM "turbo" emblem for less than $100 too. Doesn't mean you should stick it on the back of a Carrera.

If an OEM turbo badge was $500 it wouldn't belong on the back of a Carrera either. A 911S badge is certainly at home on the back of a 911 Carrera S. Your rule isn't helping here.
I know there is quite a lot of opinion on the red S...hope my photos will help others determine which side of the spectrum they are on. More to come

The "general rule" I follow is with respect to modifying the car from its original configuration. The only reason I mentioned the turbo badge is because you implied that because the red S badge was OEM, that was some sort of justification for putting it on the car.
What I should have said to clear up any confusion is that I typically do not put cheap dollar items (OEM or aftermarket) on the exterior of my vehicles. Not because I am a snob, but because that is the price range where most of the bad decisions are made. For example, stick on fake vents, chrome door trims, chrome B-pillars, chrome door handle covers, etc... and yes changing OEM badges fits into that category for me as well.
I was just offering my opinion. Not looking to get into a pissing match.
