In my early days, I always had issues with alternator whine. Nowadays, I always run separate power straight from the battery and separate ground.

I never liked those isolators/suppressors. Dedicated/new lines always gave me excellent results.

how do you like the interface?
Im apprehensive about getting it, I’m very particular on how i want my home screen setup and cant find a radio that gives enough flexibility. Almost thinking of getting a $400 Android stereo from ebay.

I know you can change the 3 shortcuts at the bottom, what about the apps icon, can that be removed?
And the giant Nav icon, can that be changed?
Thanks

I was looking at the Kenwood but I do like the idea of the CarPlay. For some reason a couple of shops I went to didn't have them available to look and play with. They even steered me away from it.

NEX 7000 install

AS far as the sound quality, I will have to admit to being 90% deaf in my right ear, the upgrade was primarliy for the i-Phone hookup and I listen to Audio Books on most longer driving trips, as my daily driver. That is why it took my son riding with me before I noticed the whine. He thinks that there was not a lot of improvement in the music quality. After 1000+ in helicopter my high tones are gone.

I did stop by the installer Sat. morning and we agreed that I would drop it off and he will check it out, he did point out that the whine was in direct porportion to the Alternator Load, when I braked the sound got louder.... It will be a coupel of weeks before I am back in town with time to get in and have it fixed.

Regards

mac

The PO of my car had one of these installed and it generally works pretty well but will freeze and need to reset itself maybe once a week. I haven't found what's causing it yet. I also have a slight hiss sound coming from the speakers unless something is being played which is a bit annoying.

Very nice being able to run Wayze 24/7, and having apple car play makes the car feel much more modern - this upgrade should be a must for everyone.

Eventually, I'll pull the unit to check on the ground and the wiring to see if that's my hissing issue - I would love to hear input on this.

EDIT: Photo added.
