Normal Behavior for Pulley?

Need your help ... i need to know whether the noise coming from the first pulley that I'm spinning in the video is normal behavior. I believe the second pulley is fine.

2007 C2 997

Thx
Matt

Hard to see in video exactly what is going on. If you can feel either vertical or horizontal play in the pulley then I'd assume the bearings are worn. Rattle surely sounds suspicious. If you took off the belt because you heard unusual noise with motor running I'd say you found a problem. If you are replacing the belt I would hate to go through the trouble w/o replacing that. There was a post a while back where someone had reused pulley and had new bearing pressed in.

Thank you for the reply. Should it make the sound in the video?

Problem is that I can't tell why it is making that rattling noise. If bearings are tight but the pulley is just rotating back and forth it may be ok.
Grab the pulley, try to move it up and down, try to move it in and out. If there is movement then bearings are worn. If it only makes that noise when you spin it back and forth you need to have it checked out to be sure.
Post what you find out.

Power steering pump can make that noise as it is just the pump mechanism rattling around. When running the pump has a good load from the fluid and doesn't make any noise.

A vane style vacuum pump can make that noise. The vanes in the pump housing rattle if you rotate the pump pulley back and forth rapidly.

Alternator and water pump should not make any noise.

Gpjii has it covered. While you may be able to rotate the pulley left and right and hear a rattle that may be normal.

There should be no play though. You should not be able to push or pull the pulley any in the axial directions or move it sideways in any radial direction.

If the belt has a sharp edge this can be a sign an accessory drive has excessive play and the belt is no tracking properly and an edge is rubbing.

Is there a specific reason you are messing with the accessory drives? Is there a noise from the accessory drive?

I played with those pulley when my car had 13,000 miles. From your video, everything appears to be similar to mine.
