I wouldn't recommend bypass pipes. They're too loud and also could have droning issues. Plenty of reviews in the forums and on youtube as well..

Can you recommend a shop in the bay that can do this? How much did you end up spending?

I went to a shop in campbell that specializes in Porsche. I paid around $500 iirc. The shop I used is called kens sportech. I'm sure you can get it done cheaper somewhere else but you get what you pay for so I wanted it to be done right. They had it finished in a couple of hours. Nice guys also.

From a muffler shop point of view, his is hardly brain surgery. I would think that any competent shop could do it, as it falls in the narrow categories of things that muffler shops do. I chose a Midas shop for two reasons: they were close and hey were available to do it right away. This is not an engine rebuild, or porting cylinder heads; its welding two small pieces of straight muffler pipe.

It took me w while to decide because I overthought it, and wanted a great job done. I wish I had just jumped in. I researched the heck out of this subject, and nobody has mentioned that they went to a shop that was unable to do it. The reason is that it is so basic that you should be able to expect any shop to be able to do it, as long as you can show them what you want. With the internet, pics are readily available. Just do it. You won't regret it.
