Gundo Hack in NJ (997)

I have been reading a ton on this Gundo Hack which sounds great on Gen 1 997 and 996s. First, will it revoke my Porsche warranty? I have a 2010 C2S Cabriolet which is the 997.2. Does anyone have this done and how does it sound? Looking for feedback. Also, what shops in NJ do this. I am aware of Fister in CA. Much appreciated

I had this done at a shop on Long Island. Here'a a clip of a drive-by taken with an iPhone :

I recommend buying a set instead of modifying yours...this cannot be reversed.

I'm also willing to sell my modified one to you. I'm located in Long Island.

I wanted 1.75 but I was told the weld would be difficult to accomplish. I left the 3rd muffler as is.

FD sells at $295, but then you're out yours. And if you don't like the sound and want to go back to original, you will have to find one which could run around $500.

Send me a PM and we can talk.

Whichever way you go, you're not going to want to go back to stock. The Gundo hack is awesome. I did mine at a local Midas last week. Super easy to explain what I wanted with Internet pics, they did it right away, and I only spent $300. There's no turning back without getting new mufflers, but I don't have the slightest intention of doing that. The hack gave me the bug for that deep, throaty exhaust rumble-- I have some Fabspeed cats on order. In the bang for the buck department, the Gundo hack is hard to beat.

Where in NJ are you? If in Northern NJ, I can recommend Powertech Porsche to do the exhaust mod. I've had all my porsches worked upon by them and had wanted the Fister mod for the 996. The muffler was toast, so I had Fabspeed ones installed - never regretted that.

On the 997 though, I have the Gundo hack. Never have I thought of reverting to stock. My previous owner (ajayabb on rennlist) had gotten the hack done in South Jersey.

The only impact a hack could have on your warranty is that there would be no coverage for damage to the hack itself, or any damage that was caused by the hack. The same goes for any mod. It's a matter of federal warranty/consumer production law. If you had an IMS failure, for instance, any warranty claim you might otherwise have would be unaffected by an exhaust modification.

Fabspeed's videos (youtube) say that they comply with warranty and emissions. I'm not sure what the fine print might be though. Fabspeed mufflers are ~$1000 I think.

Btw, I've also had my 997 worked upon by BodyMotion in Ocean Township, NJ. They had done the engine rebuild on the car after an IMS catastrophe. I've had positive experiences with them as well.

I miss the workmanship of the east coast shops since moving to Washington state.

Thanks. I'll keep you in mind. If i do decide to do the hack i was thinking of doing atleast 2" pipes. I'm also toying with the idea of doing muffler bypass pipes because i've heard some people say the gundo mod isnt loud enough. but i wont make a solid decision until i hear either one in person.

I did the gundo w/ 2in. On mine. It's definitely loud enough if you want to keep it classy. If u go beyond that, you might have to deal with some drone.
