Horn Replacement on 997.1?

Hey all, I am readying myself to replace the low tone horn on my 06 C2S and wondered if anyone has attempted it without removing the front bumper skin? I checked the horn via Durametric after noticing my cars voice seemed to be pretty anemic. It is the low tone horn. Anyone with experience doing this? It is the simplest of parts but in the worst of locations...

hehe. I am experiencing the same thing. I am told it is a common fault. So in other words your high pitch horn only works and it sounds like a little old VW? That's me! I haven't replaced the low pitch horn BECAUSE of labor and my dealer wants like 700 bucks. I just don't see it being worth it.

The problem is that you need to remove the front bumper to get to the $50 low horn. Some claim that's not necessary. I'm usually not so lucky when I take my car to the shop. Both of mine went out. I guess I got a little lucky, since my indy got my high horn working with minimal effort. It stinks, because the low horns have a high failure rate. I'm in Miami, where life without a horn just doesn't exist. For now, I'll settle for the wimpy sound.

Very, very common thing. Porsche recommends to remove the front bumper (and honestly it's a good idea to follow that, it allows you a chance to see if anything else is going on behind the fascia - we all neglect checking the little things here and there!) and if you are doing one of the horns, I'd do both to save you on the labor.

What would you use as a replacement for the Porsche "weak" horns? An Italian one with compressor?

Just wondering if there are better alternative that will mount easily.
