I was in a similar situation.

I was torn between 3 cars:
1.) 2003 996 TT Stick
2.) 2006 997 S TIP
2.) 2007 997 S Stick

The 996 TT was by far the fastest, however, the styling wasn't for me.

This left me with the 997's as the styling was perfect for me.

To help in my decision I started by talking to a very good Porsche Mechanic and was surprised when he told me the TIP was the way to go for the simple reason that they are reliable. In fact he liked the TIP better than PDK - Go Figure.

I drove both and here is my very short take.

The launch on the Stick was awesome if you like to put some extra power to the wheels . Other than that I really enjoyed the TIP. I had to sell myself on the idea as I had always had a stick. After much internal debate (my wife thought I was going crazy) I decided on the TIP.

Two years later and I feel I made the right decision... I absolutely love the TIP and don't see myself going back.
