DSG transmission

I currently drive a Ferrari 355 F1, but am toying with the idea of moving to a 997 Carrera S. However, I'm a big fan of paddle shift gearboxes (I'm a paraplegic - a paddle shift is a must have). Does anyone know if Porsche is going to come out with a DSG equipped Carrera in the near future?

I heard that it won't show up on first year production of the 997 turbo. Maybe by the second year and that might mean it will be intreduced even later for the carrera models.

For what it's worth check out the 997 S in tip - I drove one and it was a nice drive, I was thinking this would be more fun with f1 style paddles though

I do agree the paddle shift would be a great feature, I love the f1 gearboxes in the f-cars

If you go with a Tiptronic, definitely get the Sport Chrono package. In sport mode, the Tip shift points are dramatically different (i.e., better). Example, the tranny in the auto mode stays in lower gears longer, as opposed to the non-SC which generally gets up into 5th quickly unless you're driving very hard.

Also in manual mode, you can actually hit the rev limiter--not previously possible with a Tip. Believe me--Sports Chrono is THE option to have with the Tiptronic.

I second that!! You can also feel the difference in the way the car down shifts to use engine braking under hard driving. It also does not perform an upshift in a corner or when you are swerving around which gives you the confidence to throw it around.
