Gundo !!!
Gundo !!!
Gundo owners, I always read good things about the hack, i.e. sound, simple etc. But is there any drone? Anything in the cabin say between 1500 and 2500 RPM's?
Thanks,
Thanks,
Lots of mods cause drone - especially customized mufflers.
Each of us has different sensitivities, but I don't recall anyone complaining about drone with the hack. I certainly don't hear any!
YMMV

Drone is very subjective - annoying to you may be just perfect for me. To be absolutely sure you'll have to take a ride with someone with the hack.
Question is simple, DOES GUNDO / FISTER cause Drone. Simple answer NO + its best mod you will ever do.I just did GT3 rear bumper with center exhaust, and i had it on for 3 days and hated it because i missed my Fisters- wents ahead and sold that setup and went back to my OEM bumper with my Fister exhaust- I would suggest going with Fister as he will send you nicely modded muffelrs you just swap out & send him yours, cost is around $300 but worth the craftsmanship & you know its done right!
Thank you all for the responses.
Hopefully this isn't another dumb question, but what does the cross over pipe do or is its function? Any body in San Diego that I can hear the gundo first hand.
Thanks again

Seriously, how many comments about the Gundo hack have you seen on the forums? How many of them were negative? Exactly. Just do it. I did it without hearing it first, and have no regrets. It's a wonderful, satisfying, inexpensive, and simple mod that's guaranteed to exceed your expectations, and increase your smiles per gallon.
Thank you for that, I bought a OBX exhaust mainly for the quad tips and price, but I'm getting drone at 1500 to 2500 and now i am seriously considering selling and doing the hack. That's why I would like to hear first hand, just in case it's the same or has some drone that is very annoying.
The cross over just lets the exhaust flow differently causing the different sound.
The Gundo or Fister mod is done on the side mufflers. To get the "best" sound out of the 997.2, both the Gundo mod AND crossover pipes mod are needed. The crossover pipes "wake up" the Gundo modded mufflers or PSE mufflers.
After I got my car, I installed the Sharkwerks muffler delete pipes and 6 weeks later had PSE, including wiring, installed by my dealer.
Hope this helps.
That is not a dumb question. The 997.2 cars have three mufflers, one on each side and a center muffler, which is why the stock 997.2 cars are quieter than the stock 997.1 cars. The crossover pipes replace the center muffler on the 997.2 models. Sharkwerks makes a good set of center muffler delete (a.k.a. crossover) pipes. With the X-pipes, there's a slight drop in low end torque. Otherwise, there's a nice power bump overall, with a great exhaust note. I concurrently did an ECU flash that more than compensated for the low end torque loss, and I ended up with a dramatically quicker car. It has a beautiful roar from idle right up to the redline. Just make sure you differentiate between "cross" and "cross-over" as you do your homework.
