So few questions

Should I do the 3 rd radiator ?
Best place for the low temp thermostat ?
What oil and filter are people recommending ?
Front bumper grills diy style, or buy the clip on ones ?
Which DRL's are people using ?

My next steps are as follows, I live split between Switzerland and UK so this lot should be done whilst I am not in the UK if I can get it planned over the next days.

So it's been a daily prior to me purchasing and hence I need to get it back to a standard I'm happy with, price was good so happy to spend some money on it

Find a detailer in northants to have car delivered to
1. Full detail, in and out, under arches, etc...
2. Couple of trolley dings that need attention from the dent man should be able to to get them out without too much trouble
3. Refurb alloy wheels as some small bubbles in corners
4. Replace near side sill cover on inside of door as heavily scratched, found one of those on eBay
5. Need A cover for the scuttle on the drivers side just next to the wiper this is missing
6. Drop it off for a service at a local Porsche specialist, and while they are at it sort that exhaust tip out, fit thermostat etc...
7 new heater control unit, wil sort out them worn control, seen them on eBay and thinking this is better bet than a refurb

Should be a good base and somewhere nearer where I want it then.

Then I will see it again when back in the UK mid June.

Thoughts suggestions please feel free

Thanks in advance

Why don't you drive it for a while before spending money on mods that may or may not address problems that may or may not exist.
You'll be spending more than you are used to just for normal maintenance. See how it goes first.

Appreciate the comments. I want to get it somewhere near where I want it before I start to use it. I negotiated most of it into the price I paid so no issue from that front.

Will hunt down a detailer and wheel refurb place today hopefully then I can have it dropped there for the first jobs

Hi Mark... Speaking on the 3rd radiator... I had one installed as I ran into an animal on the road and needed a new OEM bumper. As long as the car was apart, it is very easy to install at the same time.

I noticed my oil temp guage during higher speed driving will no longer reach
225, but instead stay some recorded 10 degrees cooler. This is a good thing imo.

Not to mention, it looks better as well (IMO). I had the body man install some black powdercoated metal screen material to protect it, and the 2 side
radiators and use plastic push type fastners which cannot be seen. looks really clean.

Far as oil goes... I moved over to Motul Xcess 8500 series. The motor runs smoother than with Mobil one, and seems to idle better as well.
A bit more money than M1. I run the 5w40 year round, as opposed to the suggested 0w40 in Mobil one.

Great color (Atlas Grey), btw! very hard to find!

What miles/Km on the clock for your car? ANy maintenance history you are aware of?

Oh, if changing the brake fluid, Motul also makes some awesome fluid for our cars... Motul 600 series with the red cap. Its a once per year variety, but I don't mond the extra service cycle over standard 2 year flush.

Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the day pages very helpful

So I'm making some progress with the new purchase. It's getting collected from the storage company and transferred to a detailing guy next Wednesday, he will spend his spare time over the next couple of weeks doing a full detail, alloys will be refurbished and a few other bits and bobs sorted. It's then off to a local Indy for oil, filter, air filter, brake fluid change.

Then when I'm back in the UK in June i will get some driving in and then think about tackling the LTT and the 3rd radiator and fit some grills at the same time.

Does anyone have recommendations on front DRL's ?

Thanks

There are a number of sites that have parts diagrams available. Just enter your year/911/Carrera4S, select the right category and you can search the resulting list. Since the sites present the parts differently I sometimes have better luck on one than the others. For example, in the case of your cowl piece, the AutoAtlanta has a nice photo with that one at http://www.autoatlanta.com/results.p...99757257004FMT that makes it appear to be the right part (but please verify for yourself). I found the number on another site's diagram but wasn't 100% sure in this case, so the photo here is extremely helpful.

I've used all of these before: http://sonnenporscheoemparts.com, http://www.ecstuning.com/, http://www.jimellisporscheparts.com/, and http://www.autoatlanta.com/.. You'll also notice that prices will vary from site to site. Ssometimes once I have the part number I just Google it and find a photo for verification from that, and sometimes for really pricey things Googling pays off too... but there is a lot to be said for rewarding vendors that make it easy to find the right parts easily. I've also find that my local dealer will sometimes price match a price if I bring in the page showing the competition's price.
