Lowering question...

I've got a 997C2 w/ standard suspension & 18's, and I'm looking to lower her down, but not "too low".

Is there a -20mm lowering spring available for the 997C2?

The H&R's seem to be the popular way to go, but according to research (please correct me if wrong) they are -30mm to -38mm which from the pics I've seen is just a bit too low for my taste. I love the look, but not the other issues associated with it (creaking/driveways/speedbumps/harsher ride).

After spending some time at the dealer yesterday I determined that I'd like to acheive the ride height I see on the 996 GT3 and Turbo models (-20mm?).

Aside from buying expensive adjustable coilovers is there a solution for me, or am I screwed?

Please any comments or feedback from those of you with lowered 997's would be appreciated. I love the way my car rides now; it's just a tad too high. Maybe I'm just being way too paranoid? What do you think?

Is there another spring besides H&R for PASM that does a -20 MM lowering job?

I also think the H & R is a little too much.

PaulKam - cool doggy huh? His name is Yogi The Cargraphic execution is very cool; but the car is just a wee bit low for what I'd like

20C4S - coilovers are the best solution but too expensive for me

It's not what you are asking, but reading between the lines it seems that the stance (look) of your car is what you are after. If I were you I would forego messing with the suspension especally since you are happy with the way it rides. I would change your tire/wheel setup to 19's or even 20's. This will fill in the big gaps you have and will make your car look lower. My 2 cents.

If so then coilovers should NOT be too expensive

msindi -
yeah, Mika - my racing hero of the 90's. I had the opportunity to meet him a couple of times. One hec of a race car pilot.

Vikki - Thanks! I haven't had the time to take any decent pics (hopefully this weekend). I'll post more soon
I keep reviewing the pics of your 997 to see if I want to go the same route as you did. It wasn't until after I saw your 997 I had any intentions of even consider modifying this car.
It's all your fault

Arngar - Thanks for the suggestion, but I want to keep rotating mass to a minimum (as well as cost). I think the new Sport Wheel would look awesome though!

Hmmm..... it's looking more and more that -30mm springs are the only solution available to me atm. Like I said, I know it will look great, I guess I need to find someone who's got a lowered 997 to take me for a ride so I can see first hand about the ride.

Anyone out there want to take me for a test ride?

Ok, so let's say I want to go ahead with the H&R's....

Where can I go to get this done in So. Calif? Orange County install preferred.

Or do I have to make the drive all the way up to Sharkey's?

Yeah I hear ya; unfortunately life's daily chores is preventing me from sneaking out for a drive w/ my digi camera

I'm actually shopping for a CPO Boxster for her! With any luck we might have two Porsches in the garage for Christmas

Mila,
I lowered my 997 using Eibachs, and I'm not certain how much lower than stock the car sits. A few days ago I went to my P dealership and parked my car next to a couple of new 997s. The visual impact convinced me I had done the right thing. Lowering seemed to complete the picture of my car, in my mind's eye.
You may have to use good judgment entering and leaving driveways etc, but that is a very small inconvience compared to the image you car will create. Just MHO

Thanks Doc (may I call you Doc?)

I'm in total agreement with you as far as completing the car's look. The more I see my car at that height the more it annoys me, so I'm really looking to fing a solution here.

Can you tell me if you're experiencing any creaking noises or rubbing issues with your Eibachs? And what made you choose them over the H&R's?
