I just went on Porsche's web site and configured a C4S cab with the power package and ceramic breaks, and some other stuff (not THAT much) and the price was 140K. Wow! Needless to say it will be a while until I upgrade.

I know the prices are crazy!!! That is why I was looking into the widebody for my 996 c4. But I have decided not to do the wide body and maybe get a 360 or wait and get a 430.

At those prices, it puts us in the exotic land of Ferrari and Lambo.

I think the car is priced quite low ... the power package and ceramic breaks are what threw off your bottom line ( 25K more ! )... wait and get an even better car with the 997TT for about that price .

997TT is gonna be 150k once you get a couple of options, and that's probably a stripped down one.

You really threw off your price with the power kit and ceramic brakes. That alone added $25K.

What makes you say a 997TT cab is going to be $150K plus? It'll probably be a few thousand more than a 996TT cab.

I agree, i keep building just a 997S coupe and damn! i cant get it under 106k! There are just so many cool options like the aero kit, interior upgrades etc.. Not even going to mention the power kit or PCCB.

Well, you can't have everything without dishing out alot of extra cash and then losing most or all of it when its time to sell. If you want a 997 at a price that is in your comfort range you've either got to compromise on the options of a new one or get a well optioned second hand. Its the power of choice man, if your not willing to spend don't gripe about the price

Lighten-up Zakki.

I think Neil was just saying that he was surprised at the final price.

Hey Robert, do you think Porsche is making a push towards exotic?

I hope they do make more of a push tword exotic. Back in the 80's porsche competed directly with Ferrari, Aston and Lambo. They moved up market and porsche slid a bit down.

Me personally, I think my next one will be a well optioned Cayman...I keep thinking 997 GT3 or a 997 TT, but I think in my midlife crisis, I'm going to go for the more kid like car, that should leave enough money for the hair transplants and face lift.

But seriously... If Ferrari get's it's act together and releases the new "dino", porsche is going to have to compete directly with them as they would be gunning for the 911 and I might move over to the dark side myself.

I bet a 997tt will be 130K. In addition, Porsche might add a 997tt "S" for an extra 20K. Just a hunch.

Welcome to the world of Porsche: The coolest options available anywhere, but for a price. You want the options so badly that you spend hours on the web site trying to configure a car that is within your budget, and you're still way over. Then you have to decide what to keep and what to give up. It drives you crazy. heh.

And yes, prices are getting a little crazy.
