remove A-pillar ?

2011 997. I am trying to hardwire a passport max radar detector, by running wiring in headliner, through A pillar, down to fusebox. (I assume the plastic pillar next to windshield is called 'A-pillar')

I found older posts showing to pull up on the A-pillar, and it comes off. Is it that simple?

more important, if I take the A-pillar off, does it give me access (a hole or tunnel) that might get my power wire down to the footwell, fusebox area??? THANKS

Yes, just prys off. There are spring clips underneath holding it on. Use plastic trim pry bars to get it started. You might need to remove the coat hook trim at the B-pillar first and possibly loosen the b-pillar. That coat hook trim prys off from the bottom. Underneath the a-pillar is plenty of room to run a wire.

that would be even better, enough room to squeeze power wire down side of dash without removing the pillar ?

Yes it's easy to just push in. I did this for my bluetooth microphone.
