If it's got no highs and it's got no lows, then it must be BOSE

Bose sucks. I have it in my 02 cab. It's barely tolerable for a stock system. If I didn't have a cab, I would have ripped it out by now.

No one has said how much the Bose costs yet. That would be my determining factor. For around $3K, you could get a really nice aftermarket system. It woudln't have neon or motorized amp racks, but it would sound great. Take a look at the JL slash amps, JL 12W6 subs, JL XR seperates, and an eclipse head unit.

I certainly wouldn't pay extra for the Bose, unless you have very low expectations when it comes to car audio.

Many of you are commenting about your 996 BOSE system which is not identical to what is in the 997. The 996 BOSE and 997 BOSE sound completley different and the 997 BOSE setup is much better.

If you're an audiophile go with aftermarket. If not get the BOSE. Forget the stock system.

I am kind of torn, but after thinking about it more since i was not THAT happy with the sound of the Bose standing still compared to the HK in my Mercedes which is still not the best, i may actually go for the base system and possibly do an aftermarket stereo for the first time in my life.

I like the 13-speaker Bose. I only wish it had an iPod plug-in option. The PCM in the 06 is great with the MP3 capability.

The BEST audio system I have ever heard (stock) is the Mark Levinson system in the Lexus. Why Porsche can't incorporate a similar system in their cars is beyond me. My SC430 may have been underpowered but the feel of the car, the quality control, fit and finish, and audio was world class.

Yeah, the Mark Levinson in the SC, LS, and GS sounds great.

While someone brought up the Ipod, how can an Ipod be hooked up to these cars?

Bose really sucks sometimes when to it comes to sound system in car. Like mine, sound is terrible not getting easily adjusted to proper level so it is almost noisy.

I heard a carrera s with it at the dealer, it sounded ok, but for a weird reason all the ones in the showroom had it so i was not able to compare it to a regular system. Is it worth it? does it sound much better then the standard system? I love a stereo to sound great, and like to play music on the loud side, but then my other side of me wants to keep the car kind of raw since i plan to put muffler bypass pipes on. But in all honesty, how much better is the bose syetem then the standard?

Bose has some crappy subwoofer. it adds weight and complexity and sounds same crap as stock system does. you will get used to either one, none is a high end by far. i would not waste money on it, but, you know, for resell value it matters to have 'Bose' in the line of options, so, decide for yourself.

i got mobridge unit conncted to PCM which gives me bluetooth and iPod connection.

mark levinson is great but it is heavy. everything in 997 is weight oriented. and good speakers are always heavy. so, there is no simple solution here.

I have the Bose with the Dension for an iPod. There are limited highes and only boom to the bass, but it's not bad. Adding the Bose will add a small click to the resale value as well. Funny, I listened to it for about a year with the surround off, but have now turned it on but limited the gain. Seems to sound better actually. Get the feeling it was engineered to have it on. With the $500 Dension add on for iPod, I would recommend it. Perhaps the iPod connection is now a direct option on the .2, I don't know?

I like mine and am glad I have it. For a stock production car system, it's pretty good. Compared to what you can do aftermarket...well, that's not a good comparison is it?

I haven't read all the replies to you, but people on this forum HATE Bose. I think it's a must have unless you intend to replace the entire system on your own aftermarket. However, you are probably going to have people blasting bose and giving you all kinds of goofy slogans for how bad they are.. I think it sounds just fine and I would get the option.

Probably. But the forum, threads, and responses are for more than the OP's use but for that of the entire internet community for all time .
